Men and Women Are Different, And Democrats Need to Accept That

How much longer will girls be forced to sacrifice fairness on the altar of woke ideology? For years, the left has pushed the lie that letting biological males into female sports is somehow virtuous—but now, with voters waking up and the backlash building, even some of their own are quietly changing course. The question is: are we finally witnessing the beginning of the end of this radical nonsense?

California Governor Gavin Newsom is under fire for abruptly reversing his stance on male athletes in girls’ and women’s sports—a move critics say has nothing to do with principle and everything to do with politics. And they’re right. This isn’t some thoughtful evolution—it’s a calculated pivot. Newsom has spent years pandering to the transgender movement, but now that he’s clearly laying the groundwork for a presidential run, he’s scrambling to reposition himself. The polls are undeniable: allowing biological males to compete in female sports is deeply unpopular. So Newsom, ever the political shyster, is trying to rewrite his record to match public sentiment.

Christine Quinn, former speaker of the New York City Council, blasted the move during a CNN NewsNight panel, arguing that genuine evolution takes time and reflection. In contrast, she said, Newsom’s shift feels like a complete about-face designed to appeal to public opinion.

And that public opinion is clear. Host Abby Phillip noted that only 25% of Americans believe biological males should be allowed to compete in female sports, with 75% opposed. Scott Jennings said the numbers speak for themselves and reflect what many parents are already feeling—that allowing biologically male athletes to compete against girls is simply unfair.

He pointed to the growing frustration among parents whose daughters are losing out on athletic opportunities they’ve worked for their entire lives. Whether it’s track and field or softball, Jennings said, female athletes are being edged out by male competitors with physical advantages, and political leaders have a duty to stand up for fairness—especially when the public overwhelmingly supports it.

“Politicians have a responsibility to listen to their people and take real stands,” he said, adding that Donald Trump’s strong stance on this issue resonated with voters precisely because it aligned with common sense and fairness.

Cari Champion, a CNN contributor and former sports journalist, cautioned against overstating the issue, noting that cases of male athletes in girls’ sports remain relatively rare—which is debatable. Frankly, once is too much. She then argued that the science hasn’t been studied thoroughly enough—which isn’t true, as the biological and physical advantages males have are well known and understood.

And Jennings called her out on it.

“We’ve got millions of years of study. Men and women are different, and that’s why it’s unfair to put boys in girls’ sports. We don’t need any more biological studies.”

Phillip pressed him further, asking if he saw any reasonable accommodations for a “transgender” teen who wants to compete. “Genuinely curious,” she said. “You have a 16-year-old who wants to participate in sports. In your mind, is there any way that that can happen that is fair?”

The answer is obvious to anyone with functioning brain cells.

“Yes, of course,” Jennings replied. “Have the people participate with their own biological sex. Boys in boys’ sports, girls in girls’ sports. It’s worked for a very long time in this country.”

It really is that simple. No one’s saying “transgender” kids can’t play sports—just that they need to compete based on their biological sex, like everyone else. That’s not discrimination; it’s common sense. And the fact that Democrats like Gavin Newsom are suddenly scrambling to change their tune tells you everything. The tide is turning. Americans are fed up with the gaslighting, and sooner or later, Democrats are going to have to face the truth they’ve spent years denying: men and women are different, and fairness matters.
