The Left's Selective Reality

Townhall Media

The left has turned willful delusion into an art form.

When facts clash with their ideological fantasies, reality is simply discarded. This isn’t just political spin—it’s a calculated rejection of truth in favor of a narrative that serves their agenda. They don’t just twist the facts; they pretend facts don’t exist. It’s not a dance—it’s a con, and the American people are the ones being played.

This week provided yet another masterclass in this peculiar art form, courtesy of The View's Whoopi Goldberg, who offered a stunning demonstration of this reality-bending exercise when she made the astounding claim about egg prices, stating, "I have not seen an egg fall one cent since this man got in."

Really?

It’s not like this data isn’t widely available. But, you’ll notice the above graphic was shared on Fox News. Do you think liberal media outlets are showing this data? Don’t count on it.

The stark disconnect between Goldberg's assertion and reality perfectly illustrates how some on the left simply refuse to acknowledge positive developments under President Trump's administration.

I’ve previously covered how the mainstream media has deliberately ignored the recent sharp decline in egg prices to maintain a narrative that benefits Democrats and undermines President Trump. While egg prices have dropped significantly—from a peak of $8.17 in early March to below $5 per dozen—major news organizations including ABC News, The New York Times, MarketWatch, and Yahoo! Finance continue to report on outdated data, suggesting that prices are still surging.

Egg prices are now hovering at around $3/dozen.

This selective reporting is not accidental, but a calculated effort to prevent the public from associating the price drop with the Trump administration’s policies.

The timing is particularly ironic, considering how Democrats were rabidly focused on egg prices mere weeks ago. Now that prices have significantly decreased, there's a conspicuous silence from the same voices, while others such as Goldberg, are pretending that egg prices are still at record highs.

The reality is clear: egg prices have dropped dramatically, with many stores now offering dozens for as low as $1.49 to $3.49. This dramatic decrease followed the recovery from the bird flu outbreak that decimated chicken populations during the Biden administration.

Facts don't seem to matter when they contradict the preferred narrative. Goldberg's statement wasn't just slightly off; it was completely contrary to readily available market data.

What makes this particular instance almost comical is the suggestion that Goldberg, a multi-millionaire celebrity, regularly checks egg prices during personal grocery shopping trips. The disconnect between her claimed experience and marketplace reality highlights how out of touch some wealthy liberal commentators are with everyday Americans' experiences.

But let’s be clear—this isn’t just about the price of eggs. This is about something far more corrosive: the left’s outright refusal to acknowledge reality when it contradicts their political agenda. Whether it’s inflation numbers, border security data, or yes, plunging egg prices, there’s a deliberate pattern here. The left doesn’t just ignore good news under conservative leadership—they actively deny it.

Remember Trump’s 2020 State of the Union? Democrats couldn’t even bring themselves to applaud record-low black unemployment. That wasn’t principled opposition; that was pure spite.

This selective blindness is dangerous. It poisons public discourse and shatters trust in media figures who should be championing truth, not parroting talking points. When people like Goldberg spout falsehoods that are easily debunked, it’s not a mistake—it’s a calculated move that deepens division and fuels mistrust.

The American people aren’t stupid, and they’re tired of being lied to. They deserve leaders and media voices willing to tell the truth, no matter which party is in power. Anything less is a betrayal.
