A Message To Biden and Trump About Memorial Day

At this point, it’s been well established that Joe Biden can’t help but invoke his late son Beau Biden whenever he can. The problem is that more often than not, it’s really inappropriate. For example, he repeatedly implies or outright claims that Beau died in combat Iraq, which he did not.

Naturally, while speaking at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday, Biden once again couldn’t help himself and mentioned Beau. Thankfully, his speechwriter made a point to highlight the fact that Beau did not die in combat.

"This week marks nine years since I lost my son, Beau,” Biden said. "Our losses are not the same. He didn’t perish on the battlefield. He was a cancer victim from a consequence of being in the Army in Iraq for a year next to a burn pit — a major in the U.S. National — Army National Guard, living and working, like too many, besides that toxic burn pit."

Even left-leaning fact-checking groups have criticized Biden for linking Beau's cancer with exposure to burn pits, noting that there is no conclusive evidence suggestion there’s a link between them.

"And as it is for so many of you, the pain of his loss is with me every day, as it is with you — still sharp, still clear. But so is the pride I feel in his service, as if I can still hear him saying, 'It’s my duty, Dad. It’s my duty,’” he claimed. "Duty. That was the code of — my son lived by and the creed all of you live by, the creed that generations of service members have followed into battle."

While it was honorable for Beau Biden to serve, it’s anything but honorable for Joe Biden to continue to evoke Beau and suggest his death is the same thing as the those who died in combat. When he met with the grieving families of the 13 fallen service members after the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, many attendees criticized him for not only frequently checking his watch, but also for repeatedly mentioning Beau. More recently, he even invoked Beau during his visit to the site of the Key Bridge collapse last month

Enough is enough already.

In the interest of fairness, Donald Trump should keep his Memorial Day messaging on point as well. On Monday morning, Trump did post an appropriate Memorial Day message early in the morning:

However, a couple hours later, he posted something new:

Happy Memorial Day to All, including the Human Scum that is working so hard to destroy our Once Great Country, & to the Radical Left, Trump Hating Federal Judge in New York that presided over, get this, TWO separate trials, that awarded a woman, who I never met before (a quick handshake at a celebrity event, 25 years ago, doesn’t count!), 91 MILLION DOLLARS for “DEFAMATION.” She didn’t know when the so-called event took place - sometime in the 1990’s - never filed a police report, didn’t have to produce the “dress” that she threatened me with (it showed negative!), & sung my praises in the first half of her CNN Interview with Alison Cooper, but changed her tune in the second half - Gee, I wonder why (UNDER APPEAL!)? The Rape charge was dropped by a jury! Or Arthur Engoron, the N.Y. State Wacko Judge who fined me almost 500 Million Dollars (UNDER APPEAL) for DOING NOTHING WRONG, used a Statute that has never been used before, gave me NO JURY, Mar-a-Lago at $18,000,000 - Now for Merchan!

I don’t care whether you agree 100% with the message, was lumping it in with a Memorial Day greeting appropriate? I don’t think so. Memorial Day shouldn’t be about talking about your son, who didn’t die in combat, or attacking your enemies. It is a day for honoring and remembering the men and women who have died while serving in the U.S. military.
