Here’s Joe Biden’s REAL Record on COVID

Have you noticed that since Joe Biden went into campaign mode, he’s been trying to make his handling of COVID-19 a campaign issue? As you can expect, he’s been pushing some real whoppers, so I figure it’s a good time to review his record.

It was less than a year ago that Biden finally (and rather discreetly) officially ended the COVID-19 national emergency, which brought an end to many of the broad emergency powers that Congress and the president had. I was particularly amused at how the end of the emergency came and went without any ceremonial flourish or even a White House announcement. After all, he claimed in 2020 that he would “shut down the virus," so why not take the opportunity to highlight the end of the emergency and claim credit for it?

The reason why, of course, is that the pandemic didn’t pan out the way he promised it would. I suspect that the White House figured it was better to just let the milestone pass without fanfare and move on. And to say that the pandemic didn’t pan out the way Biden hoped is an understatement.

When Biden assumed office, two vaccines had already gained emergency authorization, with another soon to follow, and COVID-19 cases were on a downward trend. However, eager to claim credit and political advantage, Biden prematurely declared our "independence" from COVID on July 4, 2021, merely six months into his presidency. Subsequently, the virus came roaring back with vengeance, leading to record-breaking hospitalizations and deaths.

The pandemic had become even worse on his watch than it had at its peak under Trump, and more people died from COVID within Biden’s first year in office than had under Trump. That same day, he attempted to absolve himself of accountability for it. "There is no federal solution [to COVID],” he claimed in December 2021. “This gets solved at a state level.” It was a stark departure from his earlier directive to governors to "get out of the way" of the federal government's COVID response.

Think about it: today, Biden wants credit for his handling of the pandemic, but when he lost control of COVID, he blamed governors. It’s no surprise that Biden eventually saw his approval ratings tank regarding how he was handling COVID. Contrary to his current rhetoric, Biden bears responsibility for exacerbating the pandemic in several ways.

There is ample debate about the effectiveness of the COVID vaccines, but Biden based his strategy for fighting the virus entirely on mass vaccination. And he should take the blame for his failure to meet his own vaccination goals.

Prior to the 2020 election, he and Kamala Harris both raised questions about the safety of any vaccine for COVID. Biden later decided to halt the distribution of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine due to rare blood clot incidents that were even rarer than incidents of myocarditis from the mRNA vaccines. This move fueled hesitancy surrounding all of the vaccines.

And speaking of myocarditis, studies have suggested that the Biden administration lied about the link between the deadly condition and the mRNA vaccines. Biden went on to brag that the United States was "the only country in the world” giving COVID vaccines to kids.

Why did he even think this was something to brag about when the data showed that children have a COVID recovery rate of 99.997% — which is better than their mortality risk from the seasonal flu — and that unvaccinated children are safer from COVID than even vaccinated adults of any age.

Biden’s vaccine mandates also didn’t help. After previously opposing vaccine mandates, he went all in on the idea that he could force people to inject something into their bodies. It caused major backlash. Even worse, Biden’s narrow focus on vaccinations came at the expense of the development and distribution of therapeutics, which could have reduced the fatality rate of COVID significantly.

There are also many questions about how serious Biden was about protecting Americans from COVID when his administration exempted illegal immigrants entering this country from COVID testing.

Joe Biden is now trying to rewrite history and his handling of the pandemic. He doesn’t want you to remember that the pandemic got worse on his watch. Will you let him get away with it?
