These Members of Congress Should Be Expelled BEFORE George Santos

Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) is facing another expulsion vote this week, and, at the moment, it looks like Republicans will play right into the Democrats’ hands by voting to expel him. Since discovering that Santos lied about his background during his campaign, Democrats have been grandstanding about how terrible his lies were. They introduced the Stopping Another Non-Truthful Office Seeker Act, or the SANTOS Act, which would penalize House or Senate candidates who lie about their background with a six-figure fine and even a year of imprisonment.

We all know what going after Santos was really about because there have been plenty of Democrats in Congress who have lied or done worse yet haven’t gotten the Santos treatment—from Democrats or even Republicans.

Here are just a few who deserve expulsion more than Santos.

Jamaal Bowman

This is a no-brainer. Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.) was caught on video setting off a fire alarm in the Cannon House Office Building to delay a House vote on the stopgap resolution to avert a shutdown. It was no accident, and while Bowman has pled guilty to misdemeanor charges relating to the incident, he technically violated federal law by obstructing an official proceeding. Still, he got away with a slap on the wrist. The House Ethics Committee even declined to investigate the incident.

Adam Schiff

The House of Representatives has already formally censured this pencil neck, but if being a liar justifies expulsion, then Schiff meets the criteria. He blatantly abused his position as ranking member and chairman of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) by repeatedly claiming to have seen evidence that Donald Trump colluded with Russia to steal the 2016 presidential election. He never did because there wasn’t any. Yet his claims legitimized the accusations, deceiving both the public and Congress.

Rashida Tlaib

Last month, Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) spoke at a pro-Palestinian rally-turned-protest-insurrection that resulted in insurrectionists storming the Cannon House Office Building and protesting inside the Cannon Rotunda. Demonstrations are not allowed in congressional office buildings. Tlaib also has ties to Hamas supporters and has employed Hamas-linked activists. She’s also the co-founder of a Detroit-based, anti-American, anti-Israel, and pro-terror hate group. What more do you need to know?

Ilhan Omar

George Santos may have lied about his background, but, as Athena Thorne noted earlier this year, that pales in comparison to what Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) did. “Beginning in 2009, Omar engaged in a fraudulent marriage to a British citizen who is almost certainly her brother in order to obtain legal residency, assistance, and educational U.S. benefits for him,” Thorne noted. “She did this while she was already married to first husband, Ahmed Hirsi.”

Richard Blumenthal

If Santos’s lies get him expelled, then Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal should also be on the chopping block. He lied for years during his early political career by claiming he served in Vietnam and got caught. Democrats weren’t as outraged over his lies as they were over Santos’s lies. In fact, Democrats couldn’t have cared less that Blumenthal lied about his military service.
