‘Coup Has Started,’ Claimed Whistleblower’s Lawyer in January 2017, ‘Impeachment Will Follow’

Ten days after President Trump was inaugurated, Mark Zaid, the attorney for the whistleblower who sparked the current impeachment inquiry, said in a tweet that a “coup has started” and that “impeachment will follow ultimately,” Gregg Re of Fox News reported on Wednesday.

This was not the only time Zaid hinted that a plot to overthrow Trump was in progress.

In May 2017, he tweeted, “Johnson (1868), Nixon (1973), Clinton (1998) impeachment hearings. Next up @realDonaldTrump (2017).”

In June, Zaid remarked, “45 years from now we might be recalling stories regarding the impeachment” of Donald Trump.

A month later, Zaid “predicted” that CNN “will play a key role” in President Trump “not finishing out his full term as president.”

Gregg Re noted that the tweets “are likely to fuel Republican concerns that the anonymous whistleblower’s complaint is tainted with partisanship.”

Now, that’s an understatement. It’s clear that Zaid has been obsessed with impeaching President Trump from the beginning. “The whistleblower’s lawyer gave away the game,” Trump campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh told Fox News. “It was always the Democrats’ plan to stage a coup and impeach President Trump and all they ever needed was the right scheme. They whiffed on Mueller so now they’ve settled on the perfectly fine Ukraine phone call. This proves this was orchestrated from the beginning.”

President Trump has also described the current efforts of the Democrats as a coup. “As I learn more and more each day, I am coming to the conclusion that what is taking place is not an impeachment, it is a COUP.”

Zaid’s tweets are more proof for Trump and Republicans to point to showing this whole impeachment charade has been plagued by partisanship. Zaid and Democrats in Congress have been obsessed with impeachment and have always seen it as a means to overthrow Trump. The Mueller investigation was a dud. Michael Avenatti was a dud. Michael Cohen was a dud. Stormy Daniels was a dud. They keep throwing things at Trump hoping something will stick, and the Ukraine call was finally the straw that broke the camel’s back, forcing Nancy Pelosi to agree to an impeachment inquiry based on a whistleblower’s second- and third-hand information, which has been undermined by the transcript that showed there was no quid pro quo.
