Remember how funny it was when Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos said it might be necessary to have guns in rural schools to protect against grizzly bears? The media went wild, using it as “evidence” she was an idiot. DeVos’s point, however, was quite astute: schools have different needs based on their location, community and geography so the federal government should let localities decide how best to handle their education systems. Rather than address that point and discuss the merits of returning control over education to the states and communities, our media betters and liberals yucked it up over DeVos’s bear comment and fear-mongered that she wanted to put guns in every classroom.

In Southington, Connecticut, two schools were placed in “Secure School Mode” after a black bear was spotted in the vicinity.
According to Southington Superintendent Tim Connellan, there was a bear sighting near DePaolo Middle School. Connellan added that the animal was moving in the direction on Spring Lake at the time.
The “Secure School Modes” at Joseph A. Depaolo Middle and Hatton Elementary schools were brief and as of 10 a.m., the schools were on normal operations.
Police informed school officials that the bear was moving eastward in the direction of Rogers Orchards and “away from any of any schools.”
Thankfully there was no need to protect the children from the bear, but what if there had been? What would gun-controller Murphy have to say if any of his constituents’ children were mauled or harmed by the bear?
