Former NFL quarterback and current ESPN broadcaster Tim Tebow is now pursuing a career in professional baseball, and the Internet is not happy about it.
For the past year, Tebow has trained in Arizona and Los Angeles to hone his hitting and fielding skills in a sport he last played in 2005, ESPN reported. He was an all-state baseball player in Florida as as junior in high school, and hit .494, pushing Nease High School to the final four of the state playoffs.
Tebow plans to hold a workout for all 30 Major League Baseball teams later this month, according to his agents.
“Obviously we support Tim in his pursuit of a baseball career, as we have in all his ventures,” the star’s football agent Jimmy Sexton said. “Tim’s athletic ability, his work ethic, his leadership and his competitiveness were evident in football and will show in baseball. Knowing Tim’s passion and desire, we won’t be surprised by anything he accomplishes.”
The football star’s name trended on Twitter Tuesday morning, as users started mocking his sports transition.
Can we just skip straight to Tim Tebow desperately trying out for the NHL in 2022?

One user mocked Tebow’s emphasis on never-changing positions in football, but being willing to change sports overall.
“I will not switch positions. I am an NFL QB.” – Tim Tebow “So I was thinking, remember how I was good at baseball?” – Also Tim Tebow — Feitelberg (@FeitsBarstool) August 9, 2016
Some said the entire effort was just another attempt at grabbing the public’s attention.

Another mocked Tebow’s Christian faith, saying it’s ironic the star would play baseball, since “he’s never been past first base.”
It’s odd that Tim Tebow is giving baseball a chance since he’s never been past first base.

NFL Network reporter Jeff Darlington, however, congratulated Tebow for chasing his dreams.
Good for Tim Tebow, chasing whatever dream he desires at whatever age he chooses to do so. That’s not lame, in my opinion. That’s enviable. — Jeff Darlington (@JeffDarlington) August 9, 2016
Tebow will also release a new book in October, Shaken: Discovering Your True Identity in the Midst of Life’s Storms, which focuses on the many ups and downs of his career. In this book, Tebow “explains why neither the highs nor the lows of his life can define him — and he reveals how you, too, can find an unshakeable identity and purpose.”
