The Halloween season is upon us which means spooky haunts with the stories to match! If you’re feeling brave, you may want to check out the historical Faust Hotel in New Braunfels, Texas. The hotel first opened its doors in 1929 in an effort to attract travelers to Braunfels with a world class hotel. The “Travelers Hotel” project was championed by businessman Walter Faust and would later be renamed Faust Hotel after it’s founder. The hotel was purchased in 2009 and was restored using period antiques in every room.
Employees and guests have reported strange happenings at the hotel. Faust employee Brandi White says, “We have guests that stay here all the time, and say they wake up in the middle of the night and say they see something or they feel something.” The kitchen staff have reported seeing a man wearing a black trench coat and a black hat who is believed to be Walter Faust.
The most activity in the hotel takes place on the second floor around rooms 215 and 217. Guests have reported the sounds of children playing and laughing when there were no children checked in at the time of the report. San Antonio Paranormal Investigations have examined each floor of the hotel for “cold spots,” voices, or apparitions.
During one of the EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) sessions in one of the rooms, the equipment went off and the audio recorder picked up voices.
Employees insist that whoever is haunting the place is friendly. “They seem to be pretty friendly, they don’t mess with you too much,” said bar manager Donny Bachhofer.
Would you be brave enough to spend the night? Count me in!
