As an adult, have you ever reminisced about what you wanted to be when you were a little kid? Did you live out your dreams, or find yourself having regrets about not pursuing your real passions?
When I was a little girl, I wanted either to be on Broadway or to be Wonder Woman (stark contrasts, I know). God blessed me with a singing voice, and Lynda Carter, who played the beautiful patriotic heroine, definitely made a huge impression on me.
For one reason or another, I never made it to Broadway. Life got in the way, and relationships took priority over getting to the Big Apple. But somehow my dream to become Wonder Woman has become a reality.
Not because I have the Halloween costume with the crown and cuffs, but because I became a mom. I cook, do the laundry, clean the house, drive kids all around town, set up play dates, work for presidential campaigns, write for PJ Media, and run a company — and that’s just the first half of my day!
Many have asked me how I do it all, since it’s exhausting just listening to my schedule. This makes me smile, because the answer really is I have no idea how I do it — I just do. I still have many dreams and aspirations for my career and my life, but now they are becoming more personal goals and concrete plans, rather than dreaming about drastic changes to what I have already built in my life.
One of the many things I am teaching my children is to pursue whatever they have a passion for. If they do so, they will never regret making a dream come true and doing so will never seem like work. It’s never too late to learn this vital lesson.
