Candy Land Comes Alive in Life-Sized Board Game

If your family is anything like ours, during the holidays you overdose on nostalgia and too much food! We also like to look for new and exciting things we can do as a family. We love board games like Risk, Monopoly, and Scrabble (who doesn’t?) so we were really excited to hear about what one Ohio park is doing.

The Penitentiary Glen Nature Center, in Kirtland Ohio, created a unique and educational life-sized version of the game “Candy Land.” Players get to draw a card and advance from space to space, learning about different “natural” flavors (such as honey and grape) along the way. Stroll down Rainbow Trail with the family, making memories that will last a lifetime.

Pat Morse, a nature center staff member says, “Kids these days don’t want to just walk through and look at pretty things, they want to do stuff, so we really do our best to make this a hands-on, active and fun family adventure, as well as teaching them a little bit and having them learn new things.”

Families can also participate in scavenger hunts, work on activity pages, drink hot chocolate, and walk the 8.5 miles of hiking trails. They’ll also find treasures at the nature center gift shop. This event is free and runs from Nov. 21st-Jan. 3rd.

What kinds of fun things do you do with your family over the holidays? Let us know by leaving a comment.
