Merriam-Webster: Hey, Don't Use Us to Defend Trump

A lot of people don’t like me because I don’t think Donald Trump is a racist. And a lot of other people don’t like me because in my opinion, the reason Donald Trump isn’t a racist is that he lacks the necessary cognitive and emotional development.

People who make Trump feel good about himself are good. People who make Trump feel bad about himself are bad. It really is that simple. That’s how he sees the world. If that’s how you see the world too, and you haven’t grown since childhood either, congratulations. This truly is your time.

But it has nothing to do with race. Trump doesn’t care about that. He loves people of all races equally, as long as they constantly tell him how great he is. This was proven just last week, when we saw video of him kissing one of his staffers, a black woman, on the cheek for praising his wonderfulness. (She then sued him for sexual harassment, but that’s another story.) And he’ll bash absolutely anybody who hurts his feelings, including Caucasians like Paul Ryan and John McCain and Jeff Sessions and anybody else who doesn’t toe the line. Trump is an equal-opportunity crybaby.

But that’s not enough for our moral, ethical, and intellectual betters on the left. Everything has to be about racism. So when Trump sent some dumb tweets last week about “The Squad” — AOC, Ilhan Omar, and the rest of that group — of course all the lefties jumped up and down about how racist he was.

Brit Hume disagrees, and he explains his reasoning with characteristic common sense:

Namely:

Definition of racism
1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race

By that definition, Trump’s comments aren’t racist. Boneheaded, yes. Counterproductive, definitely. Racist, no.

But Brit Hume forgot one thing: It’s 2019, which means the dictionaries are all #woke now. If you try to use them to bolster your argument, and you don’t belong to the correct political party, they will remind you that feelings don’t care about your facts:

In other words… words mean nothing. Or rather, a word means whatever the cool kids want it to mean. A dictionary will push back on its very own definitions of words, if that’s what it takes to fend off a mob of angry lefties.

Racism is whatever you want it to be, explained the dictionary. Please just don’t yell at us. We don’t like that guy either!

And they’re still confused about why Trump won?
