Republican presidential candidate John Kasich insisted Tuesday he would not consider running for the vice presidency.
“Zero chance, just stop there, zero chance,” he told Fox Business Network’s “Varney & Co.,” specifically referencing Donald Trump.
“I have no interest,” Kasich added. “I’m going to be governor of Ohio. There is zero chance I will be anybody’s vice presidential candidate — period, end of story.”
The Ohio governor dismissed speculation that a poor showing on Super Tuesday would doom his run, saying he is focusing on winning his home state on March 15.“I don’t know how much you know about American football, but a lot of things get decided in the fourth quarter, not the first quarter,” he told host Stuart Varney, who is British.
Since he brought up the football analogy, it’s also a game where concussed people make poor decisions and don’t know it’s time to leave the game. There really is no rationale for Kasich to still be in this race if he isn’t angling to be Trump’s VP pick. He probably knows that, and is just not telling the truth, a habit he’s developed during this campaign whenever he speaks about his support of Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion in Ohio.
Exit polling in Virginia indicates that Kasich essentially siphoned off Rubio votes that more than likely would have allowed the Florida senator to beat Trump.
A staple of Kasich’s spiel is talking about the good old days when he was in Congress. It was a far more conservative time for him. He’s not that politician anymore. If Congressman Kasich could meet Governor Kasich, he’d probably call him a liberal and punch him in the nose.
If he truly does believe he has a path to the nomination, he must have absorbed all of Jeb Bush’s delusion and added it to his own.
