Facebook Aims to Extend Its Reach Across the Web

They are taking another stab at creating a revenue stream from your web activities. Social networking giant Facebook is rolling out a new feature called Facebook Connect, which allows users to see a friends activities on websites.  Userslog on to web sites using their Facebook identification and can view their friends activities on participating sites.  Supporters say that the new system is reflective of the industry trend towards providing a “social” component to all websites.  In the end, it’s not about socialization but about information gathering, target advertising and how to make a profit – something Facebook has failed to do.
