Administration Finalizing Internet Gambling Regs

It’s a mad dash to the finish as a lame duck administration tries to establish Internet gaming regulations before Jan. 20th.  The Bush administration is hoping to put in place regulations that would effectively block financial institutions from accepting credit card, checks or the electronic transfer of funds to settle on-line gambling accounts. Opponents, led by Rep. Barney Frank, are pushing to postpone instituting regulations until after the inauguration of the new president — in hopes of overturning the legislation, which would open up a gaming revenue stream for the beleaguered financial sector.
