Google CEO Schmidt To Stump For Obama

Although he says that Goggle remains “officially neutral”, Google CEO Eric Schmidt will hit the stump this week in support of Democratic Presidential hopeful Barak Obama. Schmidt calls his planned endorsement of Obama a “natural evolution” from his role as informal advisor to the campaign.  Things at the Mountain View search firm are drifting decidedly political. The company hosted blog tents are both national conventions, Sergey Brin recently posted to the corporate blog his opposition to a state ballot initiative eliminating same-sex marriage in California, and, of course, the company recently rolled out its energy plan for America. There are a number of issues on the table in DC, both in Congress and the DOJ,  which will have a large impact on Google. With decisions expected in the next several months, closer ties to Washington by Google should not be a surprise. Isn’t that what Corporate America does?
