Acer Gains In EU On Netbooks, HP Keeps Global PC Lead

Gartner Group reports Taiwan computer maker Acer takes top honors in European computer sales in the third quarter. Worldwide shipments rose 15 percent in the quarter, with H-P and Dell rounding out the top three sellers.  Acer’s success was driven by sales in the netbook computer segment:  sales of the small, inexpensive laptops have taken off and that is a sector where H-P and Dell have no real presence.
