Kohl Urges DOJ To Monitor Google, Yahoo Deal Closely

As Fed agencies continue to look at the impending Google/Yahoo deal, lawmakers and industry leaders are lining up to voice their positions on the controversial ad partnership. The latest to weigh in is Sen. Herb Kohl (D-Wis) — and when Herb, who is Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Antitrust Subcommittee, talks, people listen.  In a letter to DOJ officials, Kohl urged regulators to “continue to monitor the state of competition in this industry”  noting that “important competition issues are raised by this transaction”.  The deal is under serious scrutiny and, while Kohl’s statement seems to indicate a decision to block it may not happen before the two search giants launch the project, any misstep by the duo will almost certainly trigger a quick response from lawmakers.
