AMD To Sell Digital-TV Operations To Broadcom For $192.8 Million

In an effort to streamline operations, AMD will sell its digital TV unit to Broadcom in an all cash deal.  Reports are that over 500 AMD employees will move over to Broadcom. The sale is part of an ongoing refocusing of operations by the beleaguered chip maker in hopes of returning to profitability.  AMD CEO Dirk Meyer says this is another step towards “creating a business model to deliver sustainable profitability.”
