Strong Court Ruling Bolsters Open-Source Software

A Federal Appeals court has overturned a lower court ruling in a copyright case that has far reaching implications. The court ruled that conditions of “Artistic License”  were enforceable under copyright law, giving support to a premise that is at the heart of open source software development. The software may be free but users must still comply with its license terms.  Read the ruling here
