Covering All the Demographic Bases, You're Doing It Wrong, NBC

On Sunday, the panel on the MSNBC show hosted by Melissa Harris-Perry mocked Mitt Romney’s tiny grandson. Last night, NBC’s New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly mocked elderly Pearl Harbor Survivors:

CARSON DALY, HOST: SpaghettiOs on Pearl Harbor Day, they sent out a tweet featuring their mascot holding an American flag asking people to quote “take a moment to remember #PearlHarbor with us.” It offended a lot of people, corporations glomming on to, you know, sentimental American historic traditions, seemingly looking for people in business. It wasn’t good. But you were offended for another reason.

JANE LYNCH: I’m offended because they were referring to SpaghettiOs as pasta.

NATASHA LEGGERO: I mean, it sucks that the only survivors of Pearl Harbor are being mocked by the only food they can still chew. It’s just sad.

“The entire group thought this was hysterical, especially actor Anthony Anderson who proceeded to laugh as if this was the funniest thing he’d ever heard,” Noel Sheppard writes at Newsbusters. “Yeah, mocking the only survivors of one of the worst attacks on America in its history is hilarious.”

Setting aside the Vietnam-era flashbacks of the left mocking war veterans, it’s a curious turn that the punitive elite left have taken in recent years, destroying heretofore unknowns for thoughtcrime, ginning up lynch mobs to end the careers of their fellow leftists, and as seen this week, mocking both those at the beginning and the last years of their lives. Those who profess to be the anointed might want to reevaluate their premises; or at the late Andrew Breitbart once said of low-rated NBC and its subsidiary networks, “It’s not your business model that sucks, it’s you that sucks.”
