Whoopi Goldberg: 'I'm Playing The Damn [Race] Card Now'

But of course she is.

Yesterday in the Wall Street Journal’s Best of the Web column, James Taranto wrote:

One other thing we expect is to start hearing about race again–not from the president himself so much as from his supporters, especially in the media. Here again, the message will be a negative one: not “Wouldn’t it be cool to have a black president?” but, “If you vote to fire the first black president, you’re racist.”

As I wrote last night, “And…here’s Tavis Smiley of PBS first out of the gate with exactly that rhetoric:”

“I said over a year ago that this was going to be, this presidential race, Lawrence, was going to be the ugliest, the nastiest, the most divisive, and the most racist in the history of this Republic,” PBS host Tavis Smiley said on MSNBC.

Next up, Whoopi Goldberg, this morning:

“I’m getting tired to trying not to find things slightly racist. It is very difficult, on a daily basis, to see this stuff and not say, you know, this is what it is. I have been raised to think, ‘Well, maybe that’s not what they mean. Let me figure it out.’ But, being black, when you say, ‘Y’know, this is racist,’ 9,000 people say, ‘Oh, you’re just playing the race card.’ Well, you know, I’m playing the damn card now.”

Goldberg also had the best attack on Trump himself later on:

“You know how Donald always says, ‘People are laughing at us, thinking we don’t have it’? Here’s one of the reasons they’re laughing at us, Donald. When you show such insane disrespect to the president of your country, other countries think we’re idiots.”

And given that she believes that the moon landings championed by JFK were faked*, it’s safe to say that Whoopi takes her idiocy seriously.

* Not to mention replacing the co-host of a show that spent the mid-naughts championing this insane disrespect to the president of her country.

And via the comments, a flashback from 2004, which caught Whoopi showing her own insane disrespect to the president of her country.

Update: Related thoughts from Ace.

Update: “More than once during his press conference this morning, Trump declared openly that the press protects Obama and no one else. Of course, he’s absolutely right, the American people know it, and the media might want to stop digging,” John Nolte writes at Big Hollywood. “Does Hollywood and the MSM really think they can bully a guy who just made the President of the United States blink?”
