One of the more impressionable lads at Fark.com links to my post on John Cleese having second thoughts on England’s cultural decline under the following headline:
The right wing blogodome’s barely coherent, feces-throwing rage of the day: Monty Python is responsible for creating nanny state England because of its weekly assault on traditional values
That’s not quite what I wrote of course — and frankly, I don’t recall flinging much of any substances — not even Diet Coke — when I wrote the post, but to each his own, I guess.
Of course, as Cleese said:
“There were disadvantages to the old culture, it was a bit stuffy and it was more sexist and more racist. But it was an educated and middle-class culture. Now it’s a yob culture. The values are so strange.”
One could say that about what passes for modern “progressivism” on both sides of the Atlantic, it seems.
