NeverTrump grifters like Bill Kristol and Jennifer Rubin are lining up to support Illinois radio talk show host Joe Walsh, a NeverTrumper who has been talking about challenging President Trump for the Republican nomination in 2020. “He understands the lingo of the right,” cooed Rubin, suggesting that Trump’s ignorant, knuckle-dragging, bitterly clinging supporters may be able to “relate” to him.
He understands the lingo of the right, has the communication skills honed in talk radio and has nothing to lose. He’s just the guy to say that a man who calls himself “the Chosen One” should be directed to therapy, not a second term. https://t.co/HAzpVJPhMH

Kristol suggested on Twitter that Republicans stop “playing along” with the “crackpot” Trump and support the stellar statesman Walsh instead.:
“Walsh’s message is the ‘Emperor has no clothes—and worse, he’s a crackpot.’ The corollary to that is ‘Why are the Republicans playing along when the country is at risk?’” https://t.co/ejQhANRwXr

Joe Walsh and Bill Weld stand athwart Trumpism, yelling Stop, at a time when very few Republicans are inclined to do so, and very few conservatives have much patience with those who so urge it.
— Bill Kristol (@BillKristol) August 22, 2019
Walsh, it turns out, has a colorful history on Twitter — which could become problematic if the argument against Trump is that his Tweets are gauche and unpresidential.
These tweets for instance — yikes!
Obama is a Muslim
Happy New Year!
— Joe Walsh (@WalshFreedom) January 1, 2017
So if “Redskins” is so racist, why do even liberals say & print the term. We’d never use nigger, spick, honky, or cracker in a tweet. Right?
— Joe Walsh (@WalshFreedom) June 19, 2014
I have a right to pray to whatever God I want to pray to.
I have a right to call Obama a Muslim and call Trump a thin-skinned ego maniac.
I have a right to use an AR-15 to defend my family and my home.
That’s America. Get off my lawn.

I dunno man, you seem to be an expert on the subject pic.twitter.com/GSaq6kgh6k

Bill Kristol’s candidate was still calling Obama a Muslim in 2015 pic.twitter.com/RB8sDuZEbd

Snarked AoSHQ, “Yes, I’m glad we’re jettisoning the erratic Trump and his toxic tweeting for this sober-minded statesman.”
OUT: Attacking Trump for the conspiracy theory that Obama was born in Kenya
IN: Supporting Joe Walsh for the conspiracy theory that Obama is a Muslim
The Federalist’s Sean Davis summed up the situation very well:
It’s kind of amazing that of all the people on earth Bill Kristol could’ve picked to help him cash checks to take on the Bad Orange Man, it was the N-word-dropping, child support-skipping, conspiracy-obsessed Birther who captured his heart. https://t.co/BhBIhZVTpx

Human Events‘ Will Chamberlain, who dug up most of the embarrassing tweets, wondered why Walsh didn’t clean up his Twitter history before he announced his candidacy. Kristol had a brilliant retort:
The difference between Trumpism and conservatism in a nutshell:
Trumpists try to delete embarrassing or offensive tweets.
Conservatives take responsibility and apologize for them. https://t.co/2cBCa54ySt— Bill Kristol (@BillKristol) August 22, 2019
Enter GOP political strategist Caleb Hull, who remembered that Kristol had some embarrassingly wrong hot-takes about the Covington Catholic boys back in January and went searching for them on Twitter. [Spoiler alert: He couldn’t find them]
Bill Kristol: “Trumpists try to delete embarrassing or offensive tweets. Conservatives take responsibility and apologize for them.”
Also Bill Kristol: **quietly deletes all of his takes on Covington**
Don’t worry, I saved them:https://t.co/vUC8Vp4f40https://t.co/rkUqdEspxj pic.twitter.com/ReoKEPcG7i

That’s weird, @BillKristol… I can’t find any tweets of yours mentioning Covington anymore. pic.twitter.com/kgEA4gPSUh

Ooof. As humiliating as that was, Kristol continued to promote Walsh on Twitter Thursday afternoon because that’s what his left-wing paymasters want him to do. Grifters gonna grift.
