A bushy-tailed home invader went on a cookie-eating rampage in an upstate New York kitchen and lunged wildly at a police officer when he came to the home to investigate.
The family called the police last Friday to report a disturbance after they caught a squirrel stealing cookies in their kitchen. The frenzied scene was caught on one of the responding officer’s body cameras.
The radio was blaring music when the officers from the Brockport Police Department arrived. “Here, I’m going to turn your radio down,” one of the cops offered while the residents cowered in the hall.
“The squirrel turned it on!” a frustrated female voice cried.
When the officer entered the kitchen, the crazed rodent scampered pell-mell across the wall opposite to him and within a flash, had launched itself from a cutting board on the kitchen island to soar ninja-like toward the officer.
“Please!” the officer exclaimed as the squirrel bum-rushed him. He and his partner roared with laughter as the residents screamed in the background.
Amid the confusion, the frantic squirrel continued to dash around the kitchen like it had lost a nut.
“Officers Sime and Dawson arrived on scene but were not at all expecting the warm welcome they would receive from the squirrel,” the police department said on Facebook.
“The squirrel was ultimately captured by officers and released without injury. The homeowner was very relieved that their uninvited guest was set free,” the post continued. “Brockport Police will always go the extra mile to help their residents.”
