Syrian refugees apparently played a part in the New Year’s Eve Grope-Fest in Cologne, Germany, where over a hundred women were sexually assaulted and at least one woman raped, and according to multiple reports, Cologne isn’t the only place in Europe that experienced such attacks.
Much of the violence was attributed to a known criminal gang of Arab or North African men who use sexual assault as a means to distract women, before robbing them. But now reports are leaking out that over a dozen Syrian asylum seekers were among the terrifying sex mob in Cologne. According to a leaked police report making the rounds in Europe, one of the suspects told officers: “I am Syrian. You have to treat me kindly. Mrs. Merkel invited me.”
Another tore up his residence permit before the eyes of police, and told them: “You can’t do anything to me, I can get a new one tomorrow.” A local newspaper reported that fifteen asylum-seekers from Syria and Afghanistan were briefly held by police on New Year’s Eve in connection with the sex attacks but were released.
The Express newspaper quoted an unnamed police officer who said his squad had detained several people who had “only been in Germany for a few weeks”. “Of these people, 14 were from Syria and one was from Afghanistan. That’s the truth. Although it hurts,” he said.
Cologne Mayor Henriette Reker and other government officials had previously insisted that there was no evidence the men involved in the attacks were refugees. Both Cologne’s police chief and Germany’s public broadcaster have apologized after they were accused of attempting to cover up the horrific attacks.
On New Year’s Day police said the celebrations had passed off peacefully with a ‘jolly atmosphere’. But then dozens of women said they had been robbed and sexually assaulted during the night.
Germany’s justice minister warned that asylum seekers could be deported if they are found to have taken part in the attacks. And now even Chancellor Angela Merkel is reportedly reconsidering Germany’s deportation laws.
She said she would consider changing the law, boosting police numbers and making sure the deportation system was effective. She added that ‘cultural coexistence’ must be continually discussed.

Meanwhile, it appears that these nightmarish sex gangs are more widespread than originally thought. More than 150 women across five German cities have reported attacks on New Year’s Eve, and similar gangs in neighboring Austria also engaged in sex attacks. In Switzerland, six women reported sexual assaults on New Year’s Eve, and in Finland, security guards hired to patrol Helsinki told police “there had been ‘widespread sexual harassment’ at a central square where around 20,000 people had gathered for celebrations.”
Three sexual assaults allegedly took place at Helsinki’s central railway station on New Year’s Eve, where around 1,000 mostly Iraqi asylum seekers had converged.“Police have … received information about three cases of sexual assault, of which two have been filed as complaints,” Helsinki police said in a statement. “The suspects were asylum seekers. The three were caught and taken into custody on the spot,” Koskimaki told AFP.
Police said they had increased their preparedness “to an exceptional level” in Helsinki for New Year’s Eve after being tipped off about possible problems.
“Ahead of New Year’s Eve, the police caught wind of information that asylum seekers in the capital region possibly had similar plans to what the men gathered in Cologne’s railway station have been reported to have had,” police said in a statement.
Then there’s Sweden. After opening its borders to Muslim immigrants forty years ago, Sweden has become “the rape capital of the West.”
Forty years after the Swedish parliament unanimously decided to change the formerly homogeneous Sweden into a multicultural country, violent crime has increased by 300% and rapes by 1,472%. Sweden is now number two on the list of rape countries, surpassed only by Lesotho in Southern Africa.
There were no reports of mass sexual assaults in Sweden on New Year’s Eve this year. But then, maybe Swedish authorities have mastered the art of covering up these types of crimes after decades of experience.
