Did you assume that torturing and murdering gay men, perpetrating terror attacks, andΒ proudly embracing anti-Semitism were barriers to joining “The Resistance” against President Donald Trump?
Then … well, then you weren’t even up to speed on the leaders of the #WomensMarch.
Donna Hylton, Rasmea Odeh, and Tamika Mallory are welcomed as allies by many elements of the Left.
But if you did know of those three, then today’s response to dictator Ayatollah Khamenei posting an Instagram shot of himself reading Michael Wolff’s Fire and Fury shouldn’t surprise you. New York magazine’s Yashar Ali had a negative reaction, but many, many others did not:
The Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei, posted a photo of himself reading a copy of Fire & Fury on his official Instagram. Likely a suggestion from one of his advisors or someone in the intelligence directorate in an attempt to piss Trump off. Ridiculous. pic.twitter.com/yApbsWUdRB

Khamenei, of course, condemns Iranian women to a lifetime of repression and abuse under penalty of corporal punishment, including execution. He demands gay men be tossed from rooftops. He intends to murder all the world’s Jews. He funds his client-state dictator Bashar Assad’s savage slaughter of hundreds of thousands of Syrians.
But Khamenei also digs a gossipy anti-Trump book, so :
But also hilarious.

I don''t think it's 'ill-advised' at all.
You might as well be saying that everyone should fear tRUmp and his reprisals and THAT is giving him too much power over others.
Perhaps MORE world leaders should make a public display of their true feelings about tRUmp.— Alexander McKinley, NFE, QBE π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ (@Ajohms1956) May 11, 2018

These positive responses to Khamenei’s Instagram post enraged Yashar Ali, whoΒ revealed he has personal reasons for despising the monstrous Khamenei:
2. I'm so glad that so many of you find the Instagram post of a dictator who imprisons, tortures, and kills innocent people to be hilarious because you hate Trump so much. Perhaps I would have a sense of humor if this were Macron or Merkel – but get a grip…it's not.
— Yashar Ali π (@yashar) May 11, 2018
Yeah I don't think anything the Ayatollah does is hilarious and neither should you. He has jailed and executed some of my relatives. Perhaps it would be wise for you to rethink how you approach this. https://t.co/ba8DJHDqIV
— Yashar Ali π (@yashar) May 11, 2018
Good. Go swap places with one of my relatives who is in prison in Iran for opposing the regime. I'll wait. https://t.co/RPcMtr49cV

Many self-identified members of #Resist also had quite a laugh at Kim Jong-Un calling Trump a “dotard.” Years ago, Columbia University allowed former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad to give a lecture on campus, during which many Columbia students and employees approved of his thoughts.
Many on the Left truly do equate Trump with the world’s worst monsters — and the United States with the world’s worst regimes.
As such, they have no difficulty crafting subjective motivations for backing any enemy of their enemy.

Update (7:45 p.m.): Praise for Ayatollah Khamenei’s snark quickly accumulated after The Hill posted a brief writeup and a tweet about the Fire and Fury Instagram post. Both the comment section on The Hill article and the replies to the tweet overwhelmingly support Khamenei’s “trolling” of Trump:

Prominent Australian writer Rita Panahi — whose parents were targeted by the Iranian regime in the 1980s and fled to Australia with her, receiving asylum — had this perspective:
Brutal regime that imprisons/kills political dissidents, homosexuals, apostates & systematically subjugates women…but look the mullah is trolling Trump. Pathetic.
