Watching the trailer for Netflix’s forthcoming series “Stranger Things” will transport you back to 1982. That was the year E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial was released, and “Stranger Things” looks like it could take place in the same universe. A kid nervously investigating his fog-shrouded shed. A mother frantic over the behavior of her young son. Government agents clad in isolation suits. It all evokes the tone of the Steven Spielberg classic.
Whether the series will involve aliens remains to be seen. But it will clearly include supernatural elements. Hopefully, the scares prove as psychological as the trailer suggests.
