The Trump administration just needs to shut down the work visa programs like H-1B altogether until and unless it can figure out how to prevent mass abuse of the programs to import foreign labor and exclude Americans from the workforce.

Democrats have been lying for years that only foreigners would take certain jobs, even though, when you dig into the statistics, the majority of people in such industries as construction, hotel maintenance, farming, and healthcare are still Americans. It is true that because leftists have significantly dumbed down our education system, that many Americans are not as competent as they used to be, but neither are many of the Third World migrants they bring in to replace us. This has nothing to do with a lack of American workers; it is all about replacement migration and getting cheaper labor.

In fact, the Trump administration has called out some major companies for deliberately firing hundreds of U.S. workers to replace them with foreigners. Trump suspended Microsoft, among other companies and universities, from the green card program for this reason. Fox News found last year that about 80% of H-1B visas are for entry-level or junior level jobs.

There is a new report from Campus Reform that makes this topic particularly relevant, and highlights how politicians can be complicit in the foreign worker trafficking. Columbus Ohio Mayor Andrew Ginther signed a September agreement with Ghanaian officials that is raising eyebrows for establishing a pathway to allow Ghanaian nurses to come to America and work in Ohio hospitals, the Ghana-Columbus Nursing Partnership Programme, which is the latest development in a sister city agreement launched with Greater Accra in 2015. Yet the St. Louis Fed provides data showing that the Columbus unemployment rate has risen slightly in the second half of this year.

Besides the prospective loss of jobs for Americans, this program could involve taxpayer funding, as Campus Reform explained:

However, officials have not publicly identified the number of nurses expected to participate, the hospitals that would employ them, or which organizations would cover recruitment, relocation, and professional licensing expenses.

The agreement establishes a framework for cooperation rather than a finalized hiring contract. It also leaves unanswered whether Columbus taxpayers will finance any portion of the initiative.

The U.S. Embassy in Ghana brags about the many thousands of Ghanaian students and government exchange program participants who have taken advantage of opportunities in America. Now, our two countries are friendly, and insofar as that goes, that is all well and good. I’m not saying that America needs to be completely shut off from the rest of the world. The question is whether or not American students and workers are losing out on key opportunities in order to prioritize Ghanaian or other foreigners, just as universities and hospitals will deliberately try to hire Chinese or Indians. Perhaps the Trump administration needs to look into this.
