In May 2021, then-NIAID director Anthony Fauci urged all children to get the COVID-19 vaccines because they would be incapable of contracting the virus once they did. In November 2021, Fauci confided to his private journal logs how terrified he was of infection, despite being at an event where everyone had to be vaccinated. He lied not just to American adults but specifically to children about a shot whose risks and efficacy he really couldn’t confidently assess.
It is very important to emphasize that the change between Fauci's public rhetoric in May 2021 and his private rhetoric in November of that year was not a result of him admitting reality to most Americans. In October of that year, Fauci was excited for the pending approval of the COVID jabs for children as young as five, and he was still pushing this child vaccination to the media, even though he knew the shots didn't provide immunity and that was the only possible justification for them.
On Nov. 19, 2021, two days after Fauci's private admission in his diary of how ineffective the vaccines were, Business Insider published Fauci's assurance to parents, "The clinical trial shows that it's highly effective in preventing serious disease and infection in kids. It's 91% effective in preventing symptomatic disease." He angrily exclaimed he didn't know what parents were waiting for with vaccination. It is not clear how he came up with the 91% statistic, since the companies had not yet completed their safety and efficacy trials on the shots. Perhaps he simply invented it, as he later admitted he had the social distancing and masking rules.
Now contrast that confident language in the Business Insider interview with Fauci's Nov. 17, 2021, journal entry. You can read the full entry below, where he notes he had been attending a book party for Jonathan Karl's Retribution: Donald Trump and the Campaign That Changed America.

"The place was incredibly crowded and I was almost forced to take my mask off for 2/3 of the time I was there since they were serving drinks and people were talking and taking selfies," Fauci wrote. "I was totally swamped all night by people wanting to say hello ... I could not get away with it." Interestingly, earlier in the year Fauci had gloated over his fame, but now he seems to have been spewing masking and social distancing propaganda so long he was actually believing it himself.

Then comes the damning passage: "I was nervous all night looking at the ceiling concerned about having gotten infected in that very crowded restaurant despite the fact that vaccination proof was required to get in. I'm well aware that many people who are vaccinated are still getting infected and that worried me a lot." He pondered canceling his appearance at an event with the French ambassador because it was too "nerve-wracking" to be in a crowd.
Ironically, the COVID virus itself had over a 98% survival rate, yet despite that and despite his vaccination, Fauci was quaking in terror of infection. I do think his habitual double-talk was poisoning his own mind, because in February 2020 he had estimated the virus had less than a one percent fatality rate, though soon after he testified under oath that the rate was higher. By late 2021, though, he was going crazy on his own propaganda.
That fear of the vaccines' ineffectiveness did not impact Fauci's public rhetoric condemning anyone who didn't get the vaccines and praising those who did, however, as you will have seen above. In an interview with author Kate Messner posted in May 2021, which occurred because she had written a children's book framing COVID vaccination as making kids into superheroes, Fauci confidently claimed, “But if you get vaccinated, when the virus tries to infect you, the virus can’t because you are protected.”
Fauci himself admitted a month before that interview was put on YouTube that the vaccinated could in fact contract COVID, not to mention that multiple studies starting in 2021 have provided proof that the vaccinated are more likely to contract COVID-19 variants.
