Remember when Joe Biden and his handlers asserted over and over that the president simply couldn’t do anything to stem the mass invasion across our borders? The Trump administration has just hit a full year of zero border releases.
We all knew, of course, that the federal executive could do something about illegal immigration because the border crisis worsened exponentially under Biden after the first Trump administration. But it would be hard to find a bigger contrast between the Biden administration, when the average monthly border crossings were over 100,000 (on top of hundreds of thousands flown directly into the country monthly), and the zero monthly releases under the second Trump administration.
Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney S. Scott celebrated, “What a difference, America! The U.S. Border Patrol released zero illegal aliens into our country again this month, unlike April 2024 when more than 68,000 were released under President Biden. Every minute of every day President Trump’s border security policies are making every American safer.”
Here are just a few headlines and quotes from the Biden era when mainstream media was trying to pretend there was no executive authority to close the border.
Associated Press: “GOP says Biden has all the power he needs to control the border. The reality is far more complicated.”
CBS News: “Could Biden ‘shut down’ the border now? What to know about the latest immigration debate.”

The Independent: “What can Biden actually do at the border?… Biden could theoretically severely restrict asylum claims and border crossings, but any measure would likely face court challenges and would probably be blocked or significantly pulled back unless it had the support of new legislation.”
PolitiFact: “Immigration law both restricts and empowers the president[.] Immigration experts told PolitiFact that although the power vested by section 212(f) is broad, it can’t be used to override other parts of immigration law.”
Yet the contrast with how quickly the Trump administration shut down the mass border invasion is so great that even Biden’s own Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who previously testified under oath that his boss had the most secure border in history, is trying to rewrite the facts:
Mayorkas is a contemptible liar.

He & Biden inherited the most secure border in U.S. history.
The logical move was to do NOTHING.
But they couldn’t, because that would mean acknowledging @POTUS was right.
So they tore it open, invited a full-scale invasion, & gaslit the… https://t.co/6CrrVksNj2
It was always garbage that Mayorkas and Biden couldn’t do anything significant to shut the borders. But in fact, it was much worse than that, because they were actively trying to bring in as many illegal aliens as possible. They not only released countless criminals who have since preyed upon American citizens, but also flew millions of aliens into the USA. The Biden administration was complicit in trafficking unaccompanied minors and weakening already bare-bones vetting.
In short, both the Biden administration and the Trump administration were completely successful in their goals. The Democrats spent four years deliberately bringing in as many illegal aliens as they possibly could. It was all on purpose. The trouble was never that Joe Biden and his handlers didn’t have the power to stop up the border but that they much preferred to ignore that power in favor of replacement migration. Fortunately, the Trump administration has very different goals.
