The Trump administration is exposing the profound and self-destructive idiocy of America’s immigration system over the last couple of decades.
Our immigration system has certainly been broken for many years now, which is why we have 30 million or more illegal aliens living in the United States. By taking decisive action to secure our borders and arrest foreign criminals in America, the Trump administration has exposed just how horribly our immigration system has been misused, abused, and manipulated by government officials and illegal aliens alike.
Earlier this month, ICE Houston announced that within the first six months of the Trump administration being in office, federal immigration officers in the Houston area had arrested 356 illegal alien gang members. Among them, these illegal aliens had entered the U.S. over 1400 times illegally, and carried nearly 1700 convictions for crimes. Their crimes included child predation, homicide, larceny, burglary, drug possession, and aggravated assault.

ICE Boston and its law enforcement partners, meanwhile, apprehended 65 illegal aliens over just four days in August in Connecticut. This included 29 illegals charged with or already convicted of major crimes. Drug offenders, kidnappers, assaulters, and sexual criminals were rounded up. ICE called the four-day arrest binge Operation Broken Trust.
After all, the whole reason ICE now can and needs to arrest dozens of dangerous criminal foreigners in U.S. cities in one operation is that our government broke trust with us. That’s especially true in sanctuary city-filled Connecticut and sanctuary city Boston.
Jose De Santiago-Martinez, an illegal originally from Mexico, was arrested this week by ICE San Francisco. He had previously been convicted of two drunk driving offenses, but altogether spent less than two months in jail. Furthermore, he has been hiding out in the United States for over 20 years. That’s completely outrageous.
De Santiago-Martinez first entered the U.S. without inspection or parole sometime in 2004. On Aug. 15 that year, he was issued a voluntary return to Mexico. He returned the next day and was issued another voluntary return.
He illegally reentered the country for at least the third time after his second voluntary return.
Again, the point of this is to emphasize how insanely awful our federal and state governments have been at enforcing immigration law and keeping Americans safe. Even Trump wasn’t as successful in his first term as we hope he will be in his second term, as long as he doesn’t comply with every lawless ruling from the countless woke judges trying to protect illegals (such as the bogus new Alligator Alcatraz decision). Then again, the Biden administration exponentially exacerbated the crisis in the past four years, and that requires a huge clean-up.

For decades, the United States governments from the federal level on down have prioritized criminal foreigners over American citizens. Then there’s the universities, schools, churches, NGOs, charities, companies, farms, and conglomerates specifically providing money, jobs, and resources to illegals that rightfully ought to go to Americans. Some of these institutions, along with numerous politicians, are still actively shielding illegal items from ICE.
Our immigration system is terribly broken, but hopefully not entirely beyond repair.
