What Do Democrats and Scrooge Have in Common?

What do modern Democrats and the famed miser Ebenezer Scrooge have in common? They both support other people’s deaths on the false grounds that some life isn’t valuable. If only Democrats were as fictional as Scrooge.

Was Scrooge right to wish death so heartlessly on any poor person who could not find work sufficient to pay the bills? Democrats certainly think so. If only it could be arranged that pro-abortion activists might be visited not by three spirits only, but by all the spirits of the more than 63 million babies murdered in America by abortion since Roe v. Wade was first issued.

Abortion, which either dismembers and crushes a baby (surgical) or starves him to death (pills), has numerous severe psychological and physical effects on women and is never necessary to save a mother’s life, is entrenched now in the U.S. Indeed, it is so entrenched that even Republicans — instead of exposing its horrors — justify it. Democrats, of course, despite claiming to love “the science” (which has proven that each baby is a unique human from the moment of conception), enthusiastically and frenziedly demand ever more abortion.

Charles Dickens’ most famous creation, the “squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous, old sinner” Scrooge, is asked in “A Christmas Carol” by charitable gentlemen to donate money for people who cannot afford common necessities. Scrooge heartlessly replies that the poor must rely on prisons and workhouses if they want aid.

When the men tell him that some people would rather die than rely on these merciless and corrupt institutions, Scrooge sneers, “If they would rather die, they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population.” It almost sounds like a quote from Kamala Harris or Nancy Pelosi, or that horrible “Catholic” Joe Biden.

Scrooge of course ultimately makes a thorough reformation of his life after visits from four ghosts in all (including his late partner Marley). He becomes as generous and loving as he was once parsimonious and selfish. One wonders if even the visits of 63 million spirits of aborted babies could sway abortion’s most crazed devotees in the Democrat Party. There are, however, some miraculous conversions that have occurred, for instance, the pro-abort below who became pro-life after seeing what abortion actually entails. Scrooge wished death on the poor until he saw crippled Tiny Tim. It is easy to support abortion when you don’t see the butchery for yourself.

America was staunchly pro-life within living memory, and abortion only became more widely accepted because Democrats refused to give up on their evil agenda. If Republicans were as dedicated to telling the truth about abortion, what could we not accomplish? But that is always unfortunately the pattern.

Democrats radically transform society by refusing to compromise on their unpopular stances, such as LGBTQ ideology and government healthcare, and Republicans all too soon accept the premises of the Democrats. Republicans then surrender these battles of the culture war as already and irrevocably lost.

Conservatives rightly react with horror at the suggestion of castrating and mutilating minors in service of transgender ideology. Yet some of these same conservatives seem almost blasé about the decapitation and mutilation of unborn babies.

The Founding Fathers were pro-life; they understood that when you start to claim that some human life is not valuable or fully human or when you claim that people are not individuals but merely representatives of a certain inferior class, it is always a slippery slope that leads to mass murder. And that is what has happened in America, the mass murder of over 63 million babies. It is not surprising that the same party (Democrat) which aggressively defended slavery using the above flawed logic is now so enthusiastically in support of abortion. But it is disturbing.

We must pray for our country that pro-abortion Americans, just like Ebeneezer Scrooge, will wake up to the evils of the ideology they espouse, and that the Democrat Party will soon be as dead as a door-nail — or as dead as Jacob Marley.
