After years of making patently false statements and since-disproved predictions, the Marxist elites at Davos are upset that no one believes the “experts” anymore. Don’t we know that we’re supposed to ignore reality when it contradicts the experts’ narratives?
The insidious World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Davos conference is chock-full of leftist ideology, authoritarian politicians, and unscientific climate scaremongering. One discussion, “Open Forum: Liberating Science,” appeared to be intent on freeing science from such pesky features as data, evidence, and truth.
Swissuniversities President Luciano Vaccaro and Harvard Prof. Naomi Oreskes whined about how “toxic” Twitter/X is now that it has more free speech. Meanwhile, moderator Urs Gredig griped that we peasants don’t trust the experts anymore. Brazilian University of Sao Paulo researcher Carlos Afonso Nobre accompanied this complaint with false assertions about “global warming” and COVID-19 vaccination, thus inadvertently confirming exactly why many of us are so skeptical of “expertise” nowadays.
Gredig gloomily noted that “starting with the Brexit [sic]” and then COVID-19, “when did the word ‘expert’ become almost an insult in some circles, or that some circles started to mistrust the word ‘expert’ itself?” Nobre replied by vilifying his former “populist president” Jair Bolsonaro, referring to him as “against science, against vaccination.”
Nobre blamed the high number of Brazilian COVID-19 deaths on Bolsonaro and the lack of vaccination, which is ironic since there are multiple studies with evidence that vaccination increased the chance of contracting COVID-19. With more evidence all the time of COVID-19 vaccine-triggered injuries, Nobre’s blathering illustrates exactly why we don’t trust experts as we used to do. Nobre also bewailed the “climate deniers.” How dare they not trust the experts over the evidence!
"When did the word expert become almost an insult?"

Participants in a panel discussion at the WEF's annual Davos summit are baffled as to why people no longer blindly "trust the science" when it comes to "vaccines", "pandemics" and "climate change"—citing "misinformation" and… pic.twitter.com/sfZJfQ7rM9
Experts in various fields are necessary and important, and there are experts who care more for truth and evidence than for their ideology. Unfortunately, such experts seem to be fewer and farther between all the time, or at least on international platforms. And, as the Founding Fathers believed, every man should pursue the truth for himself, rejecting obvious lies, even if he doesn’t have several degrees to provide him with credentials. Nobre and Gredig have credentials, but they seem totally untrustworthy.
For example, Nobre scaremongered about global warming, even though data indicates a global cooling trend. “It’s hard for us climate scientists to understand misinformation, disinformation. Because, you know, we’ve been saying, for instance, this year, 2023, we had the warmest year in 125,000 years,” Nobre asserted. “You have to go back to the last interglacial period. All the record-breaking climate extremes, we are saying that for the kids, now more and more.”
Actually, there is plenty of data showing that 2023 was not the hottest year ever. The concept of average global temperature is somewhat of a scam anyway (as is the claim to know that our temperatures exceed those of 125,000 years ago), especially since some data is tampered with to support the narrative, but even the fairly objective data produced does not support Nobre’s contention.

Yet Nobre rambled on, “So it’s hard to believe why misinformation [and] disinformation because the science is showing the risk of climate change. So we have to understand the way — not to communicate because science is communicating, but why some people still do not believe in that.”
Of course, the idea of near-total scientific consensus on this topic is a myth. As just one example, Nobel Prize-winning scientist Dr. John Clauser recently insisted there is no climate crisis. Even more of a blow to Nobre’s narrative is the fact that, last year, over 1,600 scientists and scholars signed a “No Climate Emergency” declaration. Of course, since climate alarmists have been consistently wrong for over 50 years, it’s no surprise they’re being deceptive now.
So why is “expert” used as “almost an insult” among those of us who are sick of having our lives ruined by Marxist, leftist ideologues? When you are consistently wrong, and your lies harm millions of people’s lives, eventually people don’t trust you anymore. Sorry that reality hurts.
