Harry Reid: Cattle Battle Is 'Not Over'

Reid tells News4’s Samantha Boatman his take on the so-called cattle battle in southern Las Vegas. “Well, it’s not over. We can’t have an American people that violate the law and then just walk away from it. So it’s not over,” Reid said.

Reid isn’t happy if Americans walk away from “violating the law,” but he’s just giddy if illegal aliens walk around violating the law 24/7.

I’m ambivalent about the cattle battle. The Bundys “don’t have a leg to stand on” legally, according to PowerLine, yet deserve sympathy because of federal land ownership in the western states and how political agendas get mixed into what ought to be ordinary and fair decision making. We’ve all heard about the “war on coal.” It looks like the feds have been waging a quiet war on cattle ranching, too.

BLM coming in with heavily armed troops and snipers to deal with a senior citizen rancher is more evidence that our government treats citizens far worse than it treats non-citizens. This is unacceptable. It has to stop, and it was good to see the feds finally back down over the weekend.  BLM and the militia folks who showed up to support the Bundys ran the risk of turning the standoff into another Waco. Hopefully no one wants that, though the feds’ behavior sometimes suggests otherwise.
