A former high school teacher has denied the murder and sexual assault of a baby boy.
Jamie Varley, 36, pleased not guilty to 33 charges relating to 13-month-old Preston Davey.
He was in the process of adopting the child with his co-accused, John McGowan-Fazakerley, 32, who denies four offences, and appeared at the same hearing at Preston Crown Court, both by videolink from HMP Durham…
Mr Varley denies the murder and manslaughter of Preston on 27 July 2023.
He has also pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault by penetration, five counts of cruelty and one count of grievous bodily harm.
And he denies 12 counts of taking an indecent photo of a child, two counts of making an indecent photo of a child and one count of distributing an indecent photo of a child.
All the charges, involving still images and videos, relate to Preston Davey and are alleged to have occurred between March and July 2023.
He also denies seven counts of possession of extreme pornography, between 2017 and July 2023.

I honestly had no idea scenes like this, which would once have been confined to the most progressive coastal metropolises, could even happen in a rural Oklahoma county courthouse.

In a delicious irony, at the apex of the passionate struggle between the heroic LGBTQ4GF150+++™ civil rights attorney and the transphobic police attempting to subdue her, the woman who has devoted her life to demanding the world identify and treat her as a man abruptly demands a female officer.

A transgender lawyer flew into a frenzy and screamed 'I can't breathe' as he was arrested for contempt of court following a furious argument with a female judge.
Oklahoma civil rights attorney Rob Hopkins was seen growing irate with Judge Laurie Jackson in court in Pontotoc County as they clashed over a ruling.
'It's because I'm a transgender attorney practicing all over this state,' Hopkins said during the argument, which was captured on surveillance footage.
'I don't know you from Adam,' Jackson replied, throwing her hands up in frustration.
The wild incident occurred on February 5, and ended with Hopkins being dragged away by several deputies, as he screamed 'I need a female police officer' while being detained.
