DEI Deathwatch: EBT TikTok Serfs Gone Wild

Chronicling the creeping demise of Diversity™, Equity™, and Inclusion™, otherwise known as institutionalized racism.

An entire cottage industry of EBT serfs complaining about their alleged maltreatment has taken social media by storm in recent months, apparently triggered by the dawn of the Golden Age.

Sometimes, truth be told, I feel bad about “punching down” at the EBT poor when giant multinational banks and government bureaucracy thieve far more from the American people than any one individual working the local welfare office.

(I’m still waiting for the Pentagon audit that Trump hinted he would be willing to have DOGE perform, which has failed to account for trillions of dollars in the aggregate over the years; I won’t hold my breath.)

However, SNAP fraud and waste are a massive cost incurred by the federal government, amounting to $34 million in overpayments every day. Each dollar lost to fraud actually costs the government $3.72 due to associated administrative and investigative costs. It’s a terribly inefficient system to deliver welfare that almost seems designed to invite fraud.

And, also, as Memetic Sisyphus (a great handle) on X points out, these TikTok EBT hounds exhibit a confluence of so many social ills, rolled into one obnoxious trend.

  • Their sense of entitlement is off the charts.
  • They take government dependence as a given, a way of life.
  • Their ingratitude staggers the conscience.
  • Racial grievance shades so many of these rants — 400 years, “muh reparations,” etc.
  • They strain the English language to its breaking point while doing all of the above.

This credit to society — as far as I can make out because she barely speaks English — is proclaiming on public social media that she’s simply going to start shoplifting whatever she wants instead of using her food stamps, which have been allegedly cut. If any store employees try to stop her, she explains, she’s going to tell them “to go talk to Trump ‘bout that s**t.”

This productive member of society is upset that she reportedly got a letter explaining that she has to do fifteen hours of community service every week to continue pulling in $2,000 in EBT funds every month.

So, if we do the math and treat community service as employment, she would be making $33/hour — far, far more than the majority of actual workers earn on an hourly basis, yet, somehow, a crime against humanity worthy of a TikTok rant.

This woman was offended that a Walmart employee apparently asked her why she needed food stamps if she spends $85 on her nails.

“It’s no one’s business but my own what I do with my money,” she deadpans into the camera, apparently unaware that the entire point of the worker’s objection (assuming it happened the way she describes) is that it actually isn’t her money she’s using to procure foodstuffs from Walmart.

Assuming these people’s goal is to ensure the government gravy train continues and to assuage concerns that they’re freeloading ingrates, rather than just to get attention on TikTok, these kinds of incontinent displays of entitlement are very poor strategy on their part.

Maybe they should consider pooling their $85 nail funds and get PR guru Scott Pinsker on the case.
