The last several weeks have been something, haven't they? We were shocked by the murder of Iryna Zaruska, a young refugee just trying to get home after work, and then thrown into grief when Charlie Kirk was assassinated for talking with people who disagreed with him. President Donald Trump told the UN how meaningless it has become to the world. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth replaced the military's mission creep of identity politics with standards and professionalism. The Democrats are finally saying the quiet part out loud in the Schumer Shutdown: trillions of dollars we don't have for illegals because citizenship is another label that doesn't matter.
These events and more have pelted me with feelings, so my Dear VIP Reader, I decided to process them and deliver a list of questions for supporters of the Democrat Party. No, I don't expect answers. Yes, I do hope you'll ask your lefty brother-in-law one or two the next time you see him. No, I am not deluded into thinking this article will change anything. Yes, I will feel better about it all by the end, or at least I can hope for feeling a bit more emotionally organized. So, without further delay, the five questions I want to ask anyone who supports the Democratic Party:
1. Are you, as a Democrat supporter, anti-military?
I didn't think so. The United States military is the global icon of freedom and strength. Without the military, we would be another limp first-world country, like Canada or Italy. We can all agree that the uniform of the Stars and Stripes is the hallmark of superiority, right? Men and women for generations have given their lives, careers, and innocence to America, and it is our duty as the civilians who benefit from their sacrifices to give thanks for our liberty, even the kind that allows one to be a pretentious arse hat.
Did the young enlisted men in the Marine Corps do something to offend you? Is it possible that the Army helicopter mechanic did something to warrant punishment? Were we already paying the battleship's cooks too much? Then why are they not being paid? You, the taxpayer, fund their meager salaries, and yet here you are celebrating a government shutdown? Young families who have to buy formula and diapers are going to have to make some hard choices if things aren't back up and running before October 15. Gas or groceries? Pride or handouts? Nothing becoming of a young person who wants to work, support a wife and kids, and serve his country.
So again, I ask, are you anti-military?
During this government shutdown, I’m focused on ensuring our servicemembers get paid. The last thing our military families need is to face financial uncertainty. That’s why I introduced the Pay Our Troops Act a few weeks ago….It’s bipartisan legislation that will ensure our men… pic.twitter.com/3NK9dN71x6

Imagine if the blue-haired, pierced-face pronoun barista didn't get paid, and the hell we'd all have to suffer. Heaven forbid you choose not to tip! Don't our service members deserve more from us than those liberal clowns?
2. Are you, as a Democrat supporter, against the American Dream?
Imagine being born to a poor farming family and knowing that no matter what your interests, abilities, or dreams were, you would work and die on that land. You couldn't make too much money or draw too much attention to yourself because the government would take everything it could to keep you in your place, above the below and below the upper. You could never marry someone outside of your social class. Your potential would be limited both legally and economically.
This was the reality of the first immigrants. In the 1700s, men came to a land full of hazards, willing to give everything they had to set up a new opportunity. Immigrants sold years of their lives and profits to get here. Today, millions of immigrants still want to come here for the very same reasons: it doesn't matter how much money your parents had or what line of work your grandfather was in because, in America, you can make your own way and build your own legacy.
We fought a years-long bloody war against a line of kings who wielded insane amounts of power simply because they were born into a crown. Immigrants made and still make this American Dream come true. Why should anyone tell us how much money we can make? Why should we struggle through life just so our "betters" can be more comfortable?
Here we have a woman who makes $3,000,000 a year to talk — it doesn't even have to make sense or be factually correct! — telling the world that the American Dream is fascism.

Hey, Joy, what's the Guyana equivalent of $3 million? At today's exchange rate, it's 626,161,620.73 Guyanese bucks. If you, as a supporter of the Democrat Party, truly believe that the American Dream is fascist, perhaps you'd like to try making a living in Guyana. I hear South America is lovely this time of year.
3. Are you, as a Democrat supporter, aware of the true definition of 'Fascism'?
Antonin Scalia famously said, "Words have meaning." In the next breath, he said, "And their meaning doesn't change." Yes, Scalia was a conservative Supreme Court Justice, but he was also dear friends with Ruth Bader Ginsburg, so that has to count for something to liberals, right?
"Fascism" is the latest buzzword that today's leftists casually throw around, and it's dangerous, not because of what it means but because they don't know what it means. Let's clear that up among ourselves and then press the next person who calls us a "fascist" to define the word correctly. If they just caught a glimpse of the search engine's AI-generated definition, they probably stopped at "far-right" and "Hitler," but what they are missing is the economic facet. We, as reasonable right-of-center citizens, understand that fascism is really socialism pretending to be capitalism. Real fascists do not want competition, peace, or change.
"What [the Left means] by “fascism” is democracy. They don’t like it that other people have the right to representation in this country. They don’t like the people. They would like to be fascists who could throw them out of the country and force everyone to believe what they…

Donald Trump, for all of his faults, encourages competition and advocates for peace; voters ushered him into office by voting for change. Please, pray tell, Democratic Party supporter, which political party is it that supports fixed wages and excessive regulations? Don't the Democrats want Big Pharma, Big Education, Big Green Energy, and Big Farming? The COVID-19 shot certainly didn't boost the little guys--they were fired if they didn't line Big Pharma's pockets. The DEI-riddled college curriculum has not benefitted anyone except the professors and publishers who put out a new edition every time there's a new gender invented. Solar is sub-par. Chemicals make for cheap and unhealthy food.
As someone who welcomes this chaos pushed by the left, which side do you feel identifies more closely with government-controlled production and distribution?
4. Do you, as a Democrat supporter, have a vision for what America should be?
America is not perfect, no matter how much we want it to be; there is room for change and improvement. As a country, we should want to continue growing in terms of prosperity, opportunity, and equality. So what does your ideal vision of the United States of America look like? If you don't have one, spend some time really thinking about it.
Republicans are, for the most part, believers in a rising tide that lifts all boats. When we allow for innovation, enterprise, and a free market, we have a healthy ecosystem. Will it always be high tide? No, it will eventually go out, but we are sure it will come back. Most Democrats, on the other hand, believe that a social and economic framework should be a system of locks that artificially raise and lower the water based on what is needed.

Here we see New York City mayoral hopeful Mamdani lowering the water so everyone can feel special, unless you're one of the Gifted and Talented students in school, and then you're not. Is your idea of America a place where we tamp down the smart, driven, and hard workers to accommodate the dribbling slackers who just want to suck the government teat? We already have a prototype of what the Democrats' vision of America is; just look at San Francisco, Chicago, Portland, New York City, or Los Angeles.
Is that really what you want in your state? In your backyard? On the way to your kids' school? No way! Then why are you supporting a party that wants that drab and pathetic country?
5. Why do you support the Democratic Party?
Here we have walked through everything from economics to social status to the essence of freedom. You, Democratic supporter, have surely seen that the Democratic Party has left you (and sanity) in the dust. Gone are the days of the JFK Democrats who could be reasoned with, and in their place are socialists pretending to be patriots. It's not your fault. Well, it sort of is. You voted for them. You paved the way for their ridiculous ideas.
But you can fix it! There is still time!
I was one of those 1,132 who registered as a Republican in North Carolina.
— Matt Van Swol (@matt_vanswol) October 5, 2025
I was a registered Independent.
But seeing the insanity of the Left, I cannot, in good conscience, remain Independent.
I’m off the sidelines. I’m in the fight. https://t.co/zpHJuQ0Kfa
Once you see the error of your ways, we would love to welcome you to the Republican Party, or at least the middle as an independent. Am I condescending in my punchy invitation to the GOP? Perhaps, but you'll soon learn that laughing and snark are really the only ways to endure the insufferable screeching of your former colleagues. Don't worry, you'll pick it up soon enough. Besides, we don't mean anything maliciously; we are not interested in harming or belittling you. We cannot say the same for the other side, the one you left.
You did leave it, right?
Okay, I feel better. Tell me how you feel in the comments!
