What a joy it must be to be a leftist knucklehead. There’s your opinion — and then there’s hate. There’s free speech for all — except those who disagree with you. There’s tolerance for everyone — except the opposition. There’s every kind of diversity — except diversity of thought.
It’s a terrific system. You never have to prove your point, you only have to bask in the glow of your own unassailable virtue. You never have to explain how it is that, after decades of pure left-wing governance, Detroit is in ruins and Chicago is following after. You never have to try to understand why, after living under your wonderful non-racist left-wing policies, black people are deserting your cities in droves. You never have to confront the fact that after years of Feminism Triumphant, women are killing themselves in record numbers. Every time reality proves you wrong, all you have to do is point your finger at a conservative and make that noise Donald Sutherland makes at the end of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Then you all congratulate each other on a job well done and go back to laying ruin to the world.
Take, for instance, the idiots at ESPN. In a small-minded, mean-spirited, stupid and unAmerican move, the cable sports channel fired Curt Schilling as a baseball commentator last week. Schilling, of course, is the baseball legend who, in 2004, heroically pitched the Boston Red Sox past the Curse of the Bambino, leading them to their first World Series win since they sold Babe Ruth to the Yanks in 1919. He’s also a conservative and thus given to calling things what they are instead of what he wants them to be.
Thus, in reaction to the kerfuffle in North Carolina over whether men who think they’re women are allowed to use bathrooms for real women, Schilling shared a satirical Facebook meme on the subject. The meme showed a fat guy in a goofy girl getup with the caption: “LET HIM IN! to the restroom with your daughter or else you’re a narrow-minded, judgmental, unloving racist bigot who needs to die.” Schilling himself added: “A man is a man no matter what they call themselves. I don’t care what they are, who they sleep with, men’s room was designed for the penis, women’s not so much. Now you need laws telling us differently? Pathetic.”
Now, how this disqualified Schilling to discuss baseball is unclear. After all, if Alex Rodriguez declared himself a girl and decided he should be able to play for the Women’s National Softball Team, ESPN might have shared a similar meme themselves. Because the left’s ideas on this matter make no earthly sense. But in a world of naked leftist emperors, the little boy who cries, “They’re not wearing any clothes,” must be silenced. So Schilling had to go.
The unAmerican lowlifes at ESPN had their excuse of course. “We’re in an inclusive company,” they said. They’re just not inclusive of those who disagree with them, that’s all.
To be clear, I bear no animus toward transgender people. The sexual world is full of a number of things and as long as you don’t hurt anyone or frighten the horses, I can pretty much live with it all. Plus, in a nation of spiraling debt, overreaching government, Islamic terror and a metastasizing culture of death, the entire issue is a nonsense distraction largely engineered by the media to take our minds off Barack Obama’s failed presidency.
Still, we should never stand by quietly while petty tyrants like the ones at ESPN threaten the livelihood and freedoms of those who disagree. It’s not inclusive. It’s not loving. It’s low and sinister. ESPN is low and sinister. Another little fiefdom in the left’s Empire of Lies.
