Democrats Play Women for Fools

Some women want to be lied to. It is a staple cliche of comedy. “Do I look fat in this?” the wife asks the husband, showing him her new dress. And if the husband tells her the truth, she is furious. I suppose the point is that his feeling state — his love for her — is supposed to supersede the reality. He loves her, and therefore she seems svelte and beautiful to him even if the dress is unflattering.

All of which is fine when you’re dressing for dinner, not so good in the realm of politics. In politics, if your feeling state supersedes reality, you are a fool.

Democrats are playing women for fools.

Consider the flattering lies they tell. Women “have a right to be believed” when they claim they’ve been raped. Really? Are women some sort of sparkly, magical creatures incapable of lying about big things and small like actual human beings? It is no accident that this remark was made by Hillary Clinton, a woman who preserved her husband’s political career by trying to destroy the stories of the many women who accused him of abuse.

Or what about Oprah Winfrey’s absolutely absurd Golden Globe speech in which she compared the state of American women today to that of a black woman raped in 1944? “So I want all the girls watching here, now, to know that a new day is on the horizon! And when that new day finally dawns, it will be because of a lot of magnificent women, many of whom are right here in this room tonight…” What the hell was she even talking about? She was in a room full of Hollywood actresses, many of whom had preserved their careers through silence and transactional sex and were now protesting their own actions by wearing slinky black dresses.

It was all show. All lies. All an attempt to create a feeling state of victimhood and outrage that would supersede the reality that American women are the luckiest, most prosperous, most free bunch of dames that have ever walked the planet.

On Saturday, gullible women everywhere will stage a march to protest what abortion monger Kaylie Hanson Long of Naral has called “the worst [administration] we’ve ever seen for women and families.”

Well, maybe. If women’s well-being centers around their ability to kill the children in their wombs. But what about other indicators — like women in positions of power? Trump has appointed an awful lot of them. Nikki Haley, ambassador to the United Nations; Elaine Chao, secretary of Transportation; Kirstjen Nielsen, secretary of the Department of Homeland Security; Dr. Heather Wilson, secretary of the Air Force; Sarah Sanders; Betsy DeVos, secretary of Education… I could go on and on.

Or consider the jobs boom and the skyrocketing economy, which help all people of either sex, or tax reform which is already paying dividends in terms of jobs and bonuses but will also start turning up in paychecks at almost every level.

Or consider the defeat of ISIS under Trump — ISIS who sold women into slavery.

And yet women have allowed the Democrats — which of course includes the news media — to create a feeling state of hysterical outrage and victimhood that overrides the reality of Trump’s success. Women don’t like Trump. He smirks. He’s rude. He spent most of his life as a free-wheeling billionaire who ran beauty contests and took every advantage you would expect of that situation.

All of which is true, but so what?

Well, this is what. Feelings of victimhood and outrage are all the Democrats have got to go on. Dan Henninger of the Wall Street Journal put it this way in an excellent column called The Trump Paradox:

Donald Trump may be the most disliked president in the postwar era, even as he presides over one of the most solid first-year policy performances of that era, most notably a strengthening economy…. If the Trump economic record was pouring out of a different, more agreeable vessel, the Democrats would be floating out to sea. Instead, Democrats and the nonsectarian Trump opposition are billing him as the apotheosis of evil, arguing that his personality and words discredit all his policy accomplishments….This one-man meltdown is occurring almost entirely among women.

Women — those women who allow feeling states to supersede reality — are driving Trump’s unpopularity. The Democrats know this. And they know, if they are going to win back the House in 2018, they’ve got to convince women that they are #MeToo victims and Trump is somehow to blame — even though their actual lives and their actual country and their actual economic state are all getting better!

The Democrats are assuming women are fools who want to be lied to. Are they right?
