They’re being charged with attempting to overthrow the regime, but their real crime is that they were working with jailed South Korean Christian missionary Kim Jung-wook to set up 500 underground churches in North Korea.

They are not being “executed.” Using that word would lend some legality and moral framework to Kim’s action. This is nothing less than a massacre of innocent human beings — a slaughter that should raise an outcry in every civilized nation of the world.

The Daily Mail reports:

Thirty-three North Koreans face execution after being charged with attempting to overthrow the repressive regime of Kim Jong-un.

The Koreans have landed themselves in hot water after it emerged they had worked with South Korean Baptist missionary Kim Jung-wook and received money to set up 500 underground churches. It is understood they will be put to death in a cell at the State Security Department.

Experts believe the North Koreans are being punished more harshly than usual as North Korean leader Kim Jong-un combats a wave of dissatisfaction at the regime’s isolationist “juche” doctrine.

Missionary Kim Jung-wook was arrested and jailed last year for allegedly trying to establish underground churches. Last week he held a press conference at which he apologized for committing “anti-state” crimes and appealed for his release from North Korean custody.

He told reporters that he was arrested in early October after entering the North from China and trying to make his way to Pyongyang with Bibles, Christian instructional materials and movies.

Kim Jung-wook said he had received assistance from South Korea’s intelligence agency.

“I was thinking of turning North Korea into a religious country, and destroying its present government and political system,” he said at the time.

“I received money from the intelligence services and followed instructions from them, and arranged North Koreans to act as their spies. And I also set up an underground church in China, in Dandong, and got the members to talk and write, for me to collect details about the reality of life in North Korea, and I provided this to the intelligence services.”

A South Korean intelligence source in China took issue with Kim’s account, saying that the missionary did not enter North Korea voluntarily, but was kidnapped by agents of the Pyongyang government in China.

During Kim Jung-wook’s press conference, North Korean officials also showed video of North Koreans who confessed to coming into contact with the missionary.

The North Korean newspaper Chosun Ilbo reported that they said that Kim told them to build a church on the site where a massive statue of North Korea’s founder, Kim Il-Sung, stands in Pyongyang whenever the regime falls.

Anyone who believes those coerced “confessions” should be institutionalized for having lost touch with reality. The question now is whether Kim will carry through with his bloodthirsty plan. Or will he demonstrate his “mercy” by commuting the sentences to something less than death?

Kim is liable to make the same mistake Roman emperors made when they tried to stamp out Christianity, as I’ll explain on the next page.

Then there is the other dropping shoe…for nearly 65 years every person in North Korea has lived every day – every minute of their lives – marinating in a vast terror and propaganda stew the likes of which have never been seen before. Even Stalin was a piker compared to the absolute iron fist the Kim’s have wielded against the bodies and minds of their people. They are, quite literally, a physically different people from their close relatives in the South. Unless, you are over the age of 80 (unlikely given the rotten health and nutritional conditions)…all of your formative life has been spent in the Kim Stalinist Monarchy drinking in propaganda every hour of every day. You have no knowledge of anything that isn’t “Kim”…they are, for lack of better words…terrible gods.

What will that country be like when its terrible gods vanish? What does a vast country-wide psychotic break look like…unfortunately, we will eventually find out…

From what I understand, it’s not a war with China that is the big threat. It’s that parts of South Korea, like Seoul, are so close that they will be obliterated by artillery fire minutes after hostilities go hot. Meaning, there’s no question we can crush the North – and China may not even mind – but Kim will kill millions (and probably detonate a nuke or two) in his death throws.

In the PRK a "commuted" sentence is only temporary relief. The gulags are death camps that need no gas chambers: the inmates die from starvation, malnutrition, disease, exposure, or physical abuse. Until they do, they are worked as long as they can stand up.

China could put a stop to the nonsense at any time, and doesn't particularly like having a madman with nukes on their border, but they correctly believe that a divided Korea, posing security problems for ROK, Japan, and the USA, is better for their overall influence in the region than a united and prosperous democratic Korea would be.

wow. just wow.

civilized countries? that's a good one. right up there w/ 'affirmative action education', or 'most transparent'.

so this rodman's little buddy eh? figures. he goes from partying w/ one overblown halfwit nutcase to partying w/ another w/o missing a dance. he's surely the belle of the ball at these beelzebub sponsored parties. he sure looks and dresses the part. he's exactly what one would expect to encounter guarding the gates to he!!. could things get more bizarre? one can only wonder what's next. maybe kim will murder his girlfriend or a relative or two. oh wait, he already did that.

while I'm wonderin', wonder how much borrowed $$ we give kim every year? the borrowed $$ we give back to china in aid probably goes to kim too, indirectly.

you know, we really do know more about kim than we do our liar, er, I mean leader.

Obviously he did not read about the old Superbowl:

Jesus' Christians 100 -- Nero's Romans 0

So far the Carpenter continues to build coffins to bury his enemies.

Glory to those 33 meek souls who are translated into Heaven instantly "to meet the Lord in the air". For the killers there is a little surprise in store, a fiery judgment if they do not repent.

I'm afraid that this, and much, much worse, must come to pass before our Lord and Savior returns.

We were warned long ago that it would be so, that there would be Martyrs for The Word.

The problem has never been North Korea or China or Russia. Problem has always been active denial of the US citizen to recognize their own government acts against best interest of their own nation;
Saudi Arabia funds terrorism on a scale never seen in World history, The attack in Mumbai, the extreme radicalism of Wahhabi schools, the attack in NYC on 9/11, Hamas, Muslim Brotherhood, etc, etc...these are all funded by Saudi Interests. And yet our presidents walk hand in hand with them and bow to their every whim.
The NSA spys on and collects data on Americans without cause or warrant, spys for the highest bidder collecting corporate information and confidential trade figures to assist negotiations, and the CIA spys on our elected officials. There is probably cause to arrest entire sections of the NSA and CIA, yet they go about their business continuing to spy and collect information to sell or use as leverage during legislative voting sessions.
Drones are killing groups of people without due cause or evidence..and we have "secret courts" now to render judgement against US Citizens.

Never again as why the people of North Korea allow their government to violate human rights and murder its own citizens...we are not far behind.

I'll be very surprised if we Christians are even aided by the rest of the world when they inevitably find out about this atrocity in North Korea. A lot of the influential people backstabbed us Christians since at least the Cold War. A lot of intellectuals/influential people such as Jean-Paul Sartre, Hanoi Jane, John Kerry, the Hippie movement, and the like at the very least ignored the plight of Christians in places like Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, China, possibly the USSR until Stalin's crimes became public, if not actively aided the Communists in their genocidal desires against us. Heck, right now, a lot of academia is pushing right now that the French Revolution, one of the first instances of atheist/communist/socialist persecution of Christianity and religion to have ever occurred, was the best thing since sliced bread, largely because of Christianity being persecuted (I'd know, because one of my High School history teachers actually made that claim), and are preaching that Vietnam was unwinnable, and that we Christians were a minority and are continually shrinking. The UN never supported us either. Far from it, they advocated our destruction. I really hope Kim-Jung Un's crimes actually do get exposed, that the world actually does put his feet to the fire, that he pays for his crimes, but I'm doubtful that will happen in the near future.

Don't forget the useful idiots here who have helped to whitewash the atrocities of such governments, by traveling there and coming back with glowing reports of how wonderful it is.

I'm thinking specifically of Billy & Franklin Graham. They have been very useful dupes.

Kim is a tyrant who will become each day worse and worse. He cold-bloodedly had his uncle and his family executed- their pictures erased from every film. Imagined enemies if the state- anyone who does not cry enough or laugh enough- to the gallows (executed). What no one has commented on- it was just a couple of days ago when North Korea was firing missiles and a Chinese airplane passed through the arc projection on its way from Japan to China, That airplane had over 200 people. China issued a warning that they do not want anyone attacking North Korea. (Xinhuanet).
