So…this might happen.

We have our own sources (it’s amazing what some cold Taco Bell takeout and a couple of Vicodin will get you at MSNBC) and have obtained an internal memo detailing some of the primary concerns voiced by a few of the higher-ups at the network.

POTENTIAL MINUSES TO BALDWIN HIRING

1) We JUST finished paying off trauma counseling for interns from the Olbermann era.

2) Can’t justify it as a diversity hiring just because he looks ethnic standing between Matthews and O’Donnell.

3) CNN might hire a Wayans brother in response just to mess with us.

4) Mika. Just because she’s an annoying twit.

5) Sharpton feels threatened, becomes incapable of doing anything but running naked through the halls screaming “BEETLEJUICE WE MUCH!”

Seriously, MSNBC, there’s another Huntsman daughter or two floating around out there somewhere. And they haven’t publicly threatened to kill a gay man in the past couple of months. Or ever.

Someone should go on Alec's show (if he gets one) and open with "So Alec abused your daughter lately?" and just keep pushing his buttons till he blows a gasket.

I wonder if Alec is going to pretend to be a journalist like the other actors on MSNBC?

Yeah, Mika, that's funny. How can anyone have an ounce of respect for someone who's claim to fame is that her father was a foreign policy advisor to Jimmy Carter, the President who had the single worst foreign policy in U.S. history..........................until now??!!!

The five biggest concerns are:
- the stone age guys from his commercials show up and want to play dodge rock
- he does a show on addiction and everyone on the panel is family. Siblings.
- He makes on air telephone calls
- 5 second delay stops working
- He and Charlie Sheen do a show on anger management

I think that Alec Baldwin will prove to be the most erudite host that MSNBC has ever had. He will make Chris Matthews look like a mere drooling alcoholic. He will make Al Sharpton look like a mere halfwit huckster. He will SOAR above them all: a spluttering, Hollywood a**clown of Hale-Bopp proportions.

I would like to assume that Arrec Barrwin will out-crazy and out-stoopid the rest of the MSNBC gang but he could surprise us all. I'd been a fan of his acting for years before he let pollytics and craziness become his trademark but I personally believe that to be part of his lazy schtick.

If he decides that his bread is buttered better by playing the polite, erudite witty host who treats opposing viewpoints with respect he will do just that. It's up to him which way he decides to go.

For some reason I keep thinking about William Shatner's "Shatner's Raw Nerve" where he interviewed El Rushbo. Rather than playing "gotcha" he genuinely interviewed Rush and drew him out while being upfront about his own opinions (after he initially established a rapport with Rush over their mutual hearing disorders).

If Alec has half a brain he'll know that being just another smug, rude and snarky leftist won't turn into a lasting gig. The biggest problem for MSNBC and liberal AM talk shows is that just mindlessly catering to the audience's prejudices tends to bore the bejeebers out of them. That's why Rush and his peers get so many calls from listeners who love to argue with them.

We shall see...

I lost it on the Al Sharpton bit. On another site I surmised that we should start a pool on who he punches on air. I want Maddow.

Baldwin's temper and ego should get the best of him. I can't wait to read about the backstage turmoil in the New York Post.

From allegedly battering his ex wife to tweeting off at somebody for insulting his present wife, this guy hasn't learned basic good manners and I don't relish him invading my television viewing. MSNBC is this the best you can offer?
