The things you learn on Twitter:
Reporters overheard on politico live stream speculating before Romney event that there is “a 40% chance that he says something stupid.”
— Jon Ward (@jonward11) October 30, 2012
Names and affiliations would be nice to know.
This is far from the first time members of the allegedly non-partisan media have been caught showing their partisan bias. A hot mic caught reporters coordinating their attack questions for Mitt Romney at his Sept 12 press conference on the Benghazi attack. Yahoo! news DC bureau chief was caught on tape racially mocking the Romneys during the RNC convention.
Yahoo! fired him, and then Politico hired him.
Update: The snide reporter was none other than Buzzfeed’s own McKay Coppins.
Looks like my snide comment, caught on livestream, was wrong: Romney got the tone just right at this event in Dayton.

I do not have a problem with this. As long as people are open about their preferences, so you can factor it into the equation, then, more power to them. Politico is open in its bias. There is a lot of slant, but they sometimes do some real journalism. MSNBC is also open in its bias… which is why their numbers are in the toilet, because their bias is extreme, even hysterical.
Look what the media in Chicago is up to

The Fox news interview with Pat Caddel (and Ann Coulter) is really telling. Caddel is not exactly someone who sides with the Right, but his emotional call out of the media’s abject failure to report on the ineptitude of the entire Obama Administration is something to behold. The mass media has truly become the Ministry of Propaganda and Lies.
Politico? You mean Journolist, right?
Since that revelation a few years ago I make it a point not to visit those folks nor do I pay much attention to what they say or write. It frustrates me that some conservative site will link to them and I land there. I’m for every conservative just ignoring them, don’t link ‘em.
I would like to know the culprits so I can click the remote when they come on the TV. I like to know them so I can tweet them or email them so they know their biases are apparent and the right is watching them. I would like to know them so their masks of being a responsible journalist are known and slipping from their lying faces.
I remember when Reagan was caught before a live mic and everyone mocked him for his carelessness. That was what, 40 years ago, and the snarksters haven’t learned? UNbelievable.
“Everyone mocked him”? Perhaps you’re misremembering the international result of his “mistake”.
You mean the fall of the USSR and the freeing of Eastern Europe?
Sure, tha’ts what he was thinking of, not the gag about nuking the worthless commie pricks,er,missunderstood Soviet Killers, er, our friends on the other side of the political curtain.
“I remember when Reagan was caught before a live mic and everyone mocked him for his carelessness. That was what, 40 years ago, and the snarksters haven’t learned? UNbelievable.”
It’ now known that the alleged “gaffe” was done on purpose to give the Kremlin something to worry about.
Reporters, photographers, editors, camera operators, and anyone else around a campaign develop a gallows humor that is not necessarily connected to their political leanings. And while it is true that most of the national media is liberal (or something) the main problem is the cliquish-ness and insided-ness and the know-all-ness. In other words the herd mentality. So I don’t worry about the neo Sam Donaldsons of the media nor the other blowhards. it comes with the territory -
“Reporters, photographers, editors, camera operators, and anyone else around a campaign develop a gallows humor that is not necessarily connected to their political leanings.”
You keep telling yourself that — maybe someday it’ll come somewhere close to reality.
The military has a gallows sense of humor but then they die also. The media? And what is their reason?
So it turns out that there was a 100% chance of a biased reporter making a stupid prediction. Just wait for election night. I eagerly await to hear his predictions about how well things are going for Obama.
Well, he has the standard issue “hipster douchebag” glasses. Do they go through basic training to get those?
There was some story on TV the other day about some young woman who had to run after these candidates with a microphone. She was enthusiastic, committed, a few years out of college with that “gee wiz” attitude. But can you imagine chasing after some suprime doofus like Biden for a week with pen and paper or a microphone catching his stump speech four times a day. Hustle up, grab your gear, catch some sleep on a plane, then start all over again in Cleveland and listen to the same Biden speech over and over. It would be like going to dentist four times a day. One can expect one to gain a little subliminal dislike for the “Man Who Wears Aviator Glasses To Bed and Breakfast.”
That i 40% less chance that Obama will and a 58.9% chance less than Biden!
The leftstream media are a valuable resource for me. Whenever I want to know the Democrat talking points for the day, I go right to them.
“Reporters” are roughly equivalent to what I just scraped off the bottom of my shoe. Their opinions about anything mean zero.
And the great irony is that McKay Coppins is a Mormon, so he’s obviously trying very hard to fit into his new environs with the leftist journalists in the east. And what better way than trash your unpopular brother to show how “in” you are. Why I’ll bet McKay hasn’t had to do that since, what, highschool, when he wanted to be accepted by the popular guys and he threw a friend under the bus to do it.
Let me tell you, folks, there’s nothing worse than a pseudo-intelligent pseudo-worldly Mormon trying to flaunt his moderation, reasonableness and independence from his poky old clan. (The same clan that happens to know how to take care of its poor without a bloated government progam and wasteful overhead. But what does McKay care? He lives in New York now, don’t you know.)
How would a dinosaur media “reporter” recognize something stupid in the first place? One would have to be smart to do that.
The whole reason they migrate to journalism in the first place is that they are too dumb to handle math, science, engineering or anything else that requires the ability to solve complex problems, as opposed to regurgiting somebody else’s words and ideas.
What the folks in the old media don’t realize is how much, in the long run, they hurt the cause they favor. The fact that they criticize the Republicans relentlessly and unfairly tends to keep their victims honest, and quickly informs them in defects in their political positions that allows them to react to them and correct them. Their fawning praise of their idols, on the other hand allows them to blunder on, often repeating pathetic foolishness, without suspecting how horrible the consequences of their policies will be, and ultimately to their doom. (perhaps our doom as well, unfortunately) That has been the pattern of Obama’s behavior: single minded attachment to failing policies and doubling down on them. This is not surprising because he is surrounded by yes men and women in the White House, his party and the press, who almost never allow criticism to reach him.
Sadly for him and for the left wing press, this will end badly for him, and for that press, and if he wins this election, for us.
Cowardly, the way he tried to backtrack and re-establish his credibility by saying Romney “got the tone just right” after all. I’m sure he told the same thing to all his hipster friends.
What is politico?
What a manly name.
Dear President Romney,
Please throw your faithful base a bone and bring back the alien and sedition act just for a short while. You are not going to make any friends in the media, no matter what you do, so you might as well make your supporters happy.
