The first bad number today, is that initial jobless claims jumped back up again.
The Department of Labor just released its latest report of weekly unemployment insurance claims.
Claims jumped to 388k. This was much higher than the 365k economists were looking for.
The 4-week moving average climbed to 365,500 from 364,750.
Last week’s 339k number was revised up to 342k.
Last week’s numbers were only that low because one state — reportedly, California — failed to report its numbers.
The second awful number of the day, is that according to the Daily Caller, the United States spent $1.03 trillion on welfare in fiscal year 2011. Welfare spending has increased dramatically during the Obama years.
According to the [Congressional Research Service] report, which focused solely on federal spending for federal welfare programs, spending on federal welfare programs increased $563.413 billion in fiscal year 2008 to $745.84 billion in fiscal year 2011 — a 32 percent increase.
Further, spending on the 10 largest federal welfare programs has doubled as a share of the federal budget in the last 30 years: In inflation-adjusted dollars, according to Republican staff on the Senate Budget Committee, the amount spent on these programs has increased 378 percent in that 30 year time frame.
CRS reports that food assistance programs — the third largest welfare category behind health and cash assistance — experienced the greatest increase in spending, with 71 percent more spending in 2011 than in 2008. The agency explained that this spending increase was largely due to the growth in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or food stamps.
The government cannot say anything about the increased SNAP spending other than, mission accomplished. The government advertised SNAP — food stamps — to families that have jobs and own their own cars and houses.
We are spending more on welfare than we are spending on maintaining our national defense.
The total federal spending on federal welfare programs vastly outpaced fiscal year 2011 spending on such federal expenditures as non-war defense ($540 billion), Social Security ($725 billion), Medicare ($480 billion), and departments such as Justice ($30.5 billion), Transportation ($77.3 billion) and Education ($65.486 billion) — a fact that alarmed the ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee, Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions, who requested the report from CRS.
Those numbers don’t include state spending. Adding that gets us over the trillion dollar mark, on welfare spending.
When state spending on federal welfare programs — specifically Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program — was thrown into the mix, the amount spent on federal welfare increased 28 percent, from $798.813 billion in fiscal year 2008 to $1.028.54 trillion in fiscal year 2011.

Yes, this is the plan to destroy the system from inside, by cracking the financial structure of the Republic.
You add to that the continuous class-warfare rhetoric that causes capital to flee and the investments to die, and the load of the welfare expenses will automatically grow.
You add to that a catastrophic health-care “reform” …
And the war against America’s might will be won.
Everything is at stake next November. The subversives’ plan to choke Freedom is proceeding full steam..
From the Jerusalem Post this morning:
“Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad predicted the impending downfall of the “US empire,” blaming the collapse on a combination of the country’s massive debt and its loss of legitimacy within the international community, Iran’s official news agency IRNA reported Thursday. “How long can a government with a $16 trillion foreign debt remain a world power?” he asked at a press conference with Kuwaiti media personnel.”
Simple! Two Words: Fabian Socialism!!!!
Fabian socialism permeates ALL USA educational and societal levels. America’s educational and societal decline is directly traced to a philosophy of”Social Justice” (or leveling-the-playing field).
For example:If one has a Pell Grant, is a foreign student, minority student, Affirmative Action admission, why, give them a diploma (in otherwords, they were a warm body). PASS!
Excellence??? NAH! Personality, perseverence, “you’re trying” philosophy, reigned. As long as all required texts, syllabuses, class attendance and tests were completed, students received a “PASS” grade.
Since most students were on some sort of “educational loan” program, tuition was guaranteed,PASS. And-on-and-on-and-on to an over-all generalized amercan educational decline as measured by several different metrics, world wide.
It is so depressing! For years, American companies have instituted remedial educational classes, teaching basic math, reading and social skills BEFORE a new hire enters that company’s work force. Most American new hires can’t pass a drug test…nor a psychological one either. 52% of high school students, across America, drop-out.This begs the question of “out-sourcing.” The better educated work force is overseas…NOT IN THE USA. Another reason for a company to move overseas.
NEA still wants collective bargaining and better pension programs. No teacher evaluations…after all, a teacher can be “the worst-of-the-worst” and still get all salary, benefits , retirement and pensions regardless if they”teach” or not.
Educational administrators are allowed to ocupy an office, be present, talk to employees (but not to educators) and review data points on monthly print-outs…but cannot do anything to improve these declining results for reasons of a myrid of rules, regulations, Municipal, State and Federal Laws.
Yes! Fabian Socialism has collapsed a once “shining light on the hill” in America’s once excellent educational system. Now, according to World metrics…This light has been extinguished. Religion, education AND societal skills are under fontal attack by socialists. Wake-up America…she’s on life support. Pray. Amen.
Last, but not least…Critical Thinking in America, is absent. MSM (“Pravda”) holds sway over the day!
A majority of Americans live in households that are on one or more of these 84 welfare programs. As long as they vote Democrat, we’re done. By 2016 those numbers will have increased exponentially. If we don’t stop them here, America is done.
Luckily, judging from Gallup today, Romney has all but put Obamee away, up seven points now with 19 days to go. Tuesday’s debate clearly was a Romney win, as now we’re seeing his lead *increase*.
It will be double digits by November, as I have been predicting all along.
