New Obama PAC Ad: Mitt Romney Killed My Wife! (Updated: Mitt Romney, Time Traveler?)
The “dirty season” that Myra Adams wrote about a few days back is in full swing. In a new Priorities USA super PAC ad, Team Obama accuses Mitt Romney of killing this poor man’s wife with cancer.
The YouTube write-up on this scurrilous ad: “If Mitt Romney wins, the middle class loses.” The ad will get part of Priorities USA’s $30 million behind it in six battleground states, to make Mitt Romney into a cold-blooded killer.
We could do some unpacking and note that a cancer that kills its victim in 22 days is not a cancer that’s likely to respond even to the best treatments money can buy. We could also note that under Obama’s plan, energy rates skyrocketed and insurance rates have gone up, both of which have gobbled up middle class savings. We could note that under Obama’s plan, the federal government will end up rationing care and might have ruled the man’s wife unworthy of saving. We could note that under Obama’s plan, many companies are contemplating dropping coverage for their workers because they don’t want the liabilities. We could also note that under Obama’s plan, welfare reform has been gutted, illegal aliens have been granted an amnesty-lite by fiat, and the freedom of conscience has been unilaterally repealed. Obama did all of that.
But I’m thinking that something bigger is needed. Barack Obama promoted the lending policies that led directly to the housing bubble and the inevitable pop. That crash has done more harm to the middle class and everyone else than anything Bain could possibly do. Obama needs to be tied directly to that, and it needs to be shown that his call for “fairness” is really a call to do even more economic damage to the country. Unlike the charge made in the ad above, accusing Obama of helping wreck the economy would have the benefit of being true.
I’ve come to the conclusion that our side needs a different strategy for dealing with these things. When Reid sttod up in the well of the senate and smeared Romney, MItch McConnell’s subsequent conversation with the press should have been Mitch shaking his head and saying, “Poor Harry’s off his meds again”. And instead of Romney saying to CNN, “Harry Reid should pout up or shut up” he should have said, “I’ve started a fund to help Harry pay for his medications. I encourage everyone to go to http://www.HelpHarryPayForHisMeds.com and donate.” The whole thing would have died right there.
It’s tough to find a way to respond to the cancer victim video with humor but Romney needs a special team set up to do just that.
How about an ad where survivors of drone attacks come on and point out how Obama’s direct orders to launch those attacks cost them family members? Of course, the speaker would have to be someone who was later shown to be an innocent whose family was attacked on the basis of faulty intelligence.

Well, y’know, when one stops to consider that the poverty rate was going down when he came into office and began rising while he was IN office; or that for the first time in American history wages failed to grow at the same rate as the GNP, that blame belongs there.
Well, to be fair to the Democrats, they didn’t blame Reagan for AIDS until the 1984 election. They said he was going to blow up the world during the 1980 election.

Of course this disturbs the vast majority or normal thinking people. They are not the target of this ad. This campaign targets a few percent of a few percent. Next week it will be an ad about Romney’s support of a loosely affiliated racist group, or something….. God only knows. The Obama campaign knows their base very well and will just build it. Ninety more days. You only need about a third of the stupidest people in the country to get elected.
Oh sure, talk about the time machine (I thought Dick Cheney kept it under lock and seal). What’s next, a hurricane that’s going to be blamed on Mittens’ use of the weather machine?

I heard a story that while Romney was at Bain that a employee had found his child missing and Romney used every resource he had to help locate that child. If that story is true, I think that this should be made as public as Reid’s dirty lies on the floor of the senate about Romney’s taxes. Furthermore, we need to see Obama’s college records as been reported by various news outlets that there may be some proof of his citizenship in Pakistan. So let him go ahead and sink as low as he can to tout Romney as a cancer killer; maybe soon we will find out that Obama is not even an American citizen. How can you top that politically?

My husband and I did that for a while. It’s not dirt-cheap, but you can buy reasonable plans for catastrophic situations, then use walk-in clinics for minor issues.

During Obama’s tenure as President, approximately 10 million citizens will have died. While he golfs and holds fundraisers, people are dropping like flies all over the country non-stop, 24/7. The pitiable state of the US steel industry then wasn’t a secret nor was it a subject people working at these plants were unaware of. People talked about that stuff, for obvious reasons.
Likely without the investment by Bain that plant would have closed even sooner and his job would have vanished even sooner.

We are braying in the wind, because unfortunately these attacks seem to be working. For quite a while, Romney was outpolling Obama in the Rasmussen poll (although not in the Electoral College). Over the last couple of days, O has edged out Romney. We can give Romney all the advice we want. If he can’t parry these ridiculous attacks (which have actually got him off-message, which is how bad the economy is) and turn them around to destroy O, we have to conclude he’s not going to win this thing.

What I do is follow Rasmussen’s daily tracking poll, and the last couple of days (as I indicated) have not been good to Romney. Maybe it’s a fluke and he’ll come back, but only time will tell. More troubling is that Romney trails in the Electoral College vote. There are a couple of things I can hope for: 1) The Dinkins effect: Poll responspdents are fibbing and will not for Obama; 2) In the last week things will go Romney’s way as they did for Reagan (it really was not too swift of O’s team to put up Jimmy Carter as a convention speaker).
