Border Patrol agents in Arizona are blasting their bosses for telling them, along with all other Department of Homeland Security employees, to run and hide if they encounter an “active shooter.”
It’s one thing to tell civilian employees to cower under a desk if a gunman starts spraying fire in a confined area, say members of Tucson Local 2544/National Border Patrol Council, but to give armed law enforcement professionals the same advice is downright insulting. The instructions from DHS come in the form of pamphlets and a mandatory computer tutorial.
“We are now taught in an ‘Active Shooter’ course that if we encounter a shooter in a public place we are to ‘run away’ and ‘hide’” union leader Brandon Judd wrote on the website of 3,300-member union local. “If we are cornered by such a shooter we are to (only as a last resort) become ‘aggressive’ and ‘throw things’ at him or her. We are then advised to ‘call law enforcement’ and wait for their arrival (presumably, while more innocent victims are slaughtered).”
The FEMA-administered computer course, entitled “IS-907- Active Shooter: What You Can Do,” is a 45-minute tutorial that provides guidance to all employees on how to recognize indicators of possible workplace violence and what to do should their office be invaded by gunmen and focuses around three main options; either evacuate, hide out, or in dire circumstances, take action.
Perhaps this is an effort by the Obama administration to avoid having any more agents killed by Fast and Furious weapons? More at the link.

Yet more proof that the role of law enforcement is not to protect citizens. This certainly turns the arguments against Conceal Carry and Open Carry laws on their head. Yet another reason that citizens must recognize that it is up to them to protect and defend themselves and their family.
Law enforcement has not been about protecting the people for a long time now. In fact police fought long and hard for SCOTUS to rule that they had no duty to protect the people. So remember next time the administration calls for more police and teachers what they are really after is more propagandist indoctrinators and brown shirts. Most of police work any more is centered on revenue enhancement cause sheeple are money.
One would have thought that someone actively shooting people would already be a ‘dire circumstance’.
We really need to put adults back in charge at Homeland Security and Justice. Sheesh!
Exactly WHO is supposed to deal with an active shooter, then? “Social Services”?
Yeah, social workers (in kevlar vests) will come and talk to them about their feelings… all violence is wrong, you know.

Bring home troops from S. Korea, Japan, and Afganistan.
Place 50% of all military bases in the southwest to the FOB Rio Grand river. Rotate said personnel every three months. Run patrols, dig in, and supply with C-130′s water, and MRE drops. Connect with Border patrol, and all local police.
Build roads, schools, water wells… on both side of the southern border. Allow illegal aliens inside the United States to work at said border projects. Enforce the rule of law inside state borders including deportations, and voter booth security. Allow any illegal alien that meets the physical fitness level to enter the US military. The good swimmers can go straight to Force Recon tryouts.

You don’t need to bring any troops home. A few thousand soldiers on patrol shuts it down instantly. I’m sure the military could tell you the exact number it would take. It’s not like there has to be an eyeball on every speck of sand. It could almost certainly be staffed with troops on stateside duty.
And the peak wouldn’t have to last long either. After a few challenges would go poorly for the bad guys, the challenges would stop.
The people coming into the country to make a few bucks would not come if there was a high probability of getting hurt. The drug runners would have to be instructed somewhat more forceably but would learn quicly enough.
Become aggressive and throw things???? Hmmm seems they forgot to tell the armed agents that when all else fails they should stand on top of a table, pull up their skirts, and scream. I’ve seen Olive Oyl do that in Popeye cartoons and it seemed to work pretty well.
instead of buying all those hundreds of gazillions of bullets at great co$t$ to the nobody people, and since they show no indication of planning on using them on the bad guys, maybe homeland security should have bought ‘depends’ instead. of course, there is a lot to be said for making sure that if they do decide to go w/ the olive oyl thing, those depends in place might keep us all from going blind.

Rather ironic given the recent DHS decree that they will not respond to calls from AZ law enforcement who are detaining illegal immigrants.

P.S. We already tried this policy one time – at FORT HOOD – because soldiers are not allowed to carry loaded weapons stateside or outside any active combat zone (except MP’s and security details) and look what happened. OMG…..this just gets stupider and stupider every day. November 6th – D-Day
At first one assumes that this applies only to office-workers, but DHS confirmed that they meant it for law enforcement agents.
