This is not what you’d call a gutsycall.com.
Bombarded with questions following his talk at the Greater Des Moines Partnership’s Presidential Forum Speaker Series, the former Massachusetts governor told the gaggle of press and fans today that he supports the production of ethanol.
“I support the subsidy of ethanol,” said Romney, working his way through the Des Moines crowd, where he shook hands and doled out autographs. “I believe it’s an important part of our energy solution in this country.” (emphasis added)
Here we have an actual, substantive policy difference between GOP presidential candidates. Romney supports ethanol subsidies, while Pawlenty does not. Romney won’t get any Thor Photoshops if he keeps this up.

So Romney is willing to bribe farmer. Who else is he willing to bribe to get in office? If ethanol is such a winner it shouldn’t need a subsidy.
So why again do the beltway elites think this guy can win the nomination? Because I’m pretty sure that most Americans are against the ethanol subsidy. It’s almost as if he’s pandering to the local crowd (and politically important one, too, what with the early caucusing and such).
So yeah, for Iowa it’s a great stance to take. For America, not so much. So which is more important to you, Mitt? Winning in Iowa, or serving the entire nation? Think carefully, because your answer will affect the outcome of this race…
This is all part of the game. It doesn’t matter what I think of Romney, or anyone else thinks of him…it only matters right now how he does in Iowa. If he wins that, then the punditocracy will crown him “frontrunner” going into New Hampshire, and we’re off to the races! People will write learned articles about how Pawlenty made a “strategic error” coming out against the subsidies when they’re so important to Iowa, and there will be a lot of discussion about constituencies and whether he can win without this one, but it will have weakened him.
This shows Pawlenty wants to be a good President, and Romney wants to be President *really badly*. Usually, someone in Romney’s mold wins the election, while Pawlenty’s type is thought to be a missed opportunity for the country. Oh well.
Exactly, this is only a strategic step to win the necessary votes. Maybe he took example from Obama´s 2008 campaign. That time he was strongly supporting ethanol in Iowa and that helped propel him to victorious end.
Game over Mitt. At this rate, with the possible Republican contenders, the country might as well just hand Barry the keys to the WH for the next four years and save us all a lot of time and money. This just shows that Romney’s simply another Washington DC insider who would be willing to “compromise” with Democrats, when we all know that when a Republican says “compromise” what he really means is “I’ll surrender my principles at the drop of a hat if it makes progressives like me”. Game over, dude.
Business as usual.
Ok – there we have it. Romney is part of the ruling class – pathetic!
Romney is a collaborator, literally.. I also mean it derogatorily as well.
can anyone tell me if Mitt’s dad ever naturalized?
Mitt’s dad is the son of an anti-American.. and from the looks of Michigan, the Romney touch screams traitor..
Joseph Smith, Jr. vs Muhammad ibn ‘Abdullāh
How is it possible that we could have no choice but to be ruled by a form of historical revisionism..
Romney and Obama are both standard bearers of liars, yet it’s possible we have to chose between them.

Stendahl is credited with creating Stendahl’s three rules of religious understanding, which he presented in a 1985 press conference in Stockholm, Sweden, in response to vocal opposition to the building of a temple there by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His rules are as follows:
When you are trying to understand another religion, you should ask the adherents of that religion and not its enemies.
Don’t compare your best to their worst.
Leave room for “holy envy.” (By this Stendahl meant that you should be willing to recognize elements in the other religious tradition or faith that you admire and wish could, in some way, be reflected in your own religious tradition or faith.)

What do you call the person that opens the gate for the enemy?
selfish?
Is Mitt actually running for president or just trying to prove to himself that, yes, he can win Iowa? He has now hung a second albatross around his neck — and apparently hasn’t realized that winning the hawkeye state ain’t what it used to be. Just ask Mike Huckabee.
One word for Romney – RINO!!!!!!!!!!!! He is already going down the path of being better than Obama, but not by much.
Strike one…
(Unless Strike one is Romney Care…. For now I’ll call it a foul….)
Stick a fork in him, he’s done.
How much longer before he’s singing the praises of cap and trade.
If the GOP nominates Mitty I will not vote for him. I’ll write in or vote a third or fourth party candidate.
By November 2012, we will see $200 oil and GDP contraction thru Q2 2012. Dear Leader will get less than 40% of the vote leaving enough room for the successor of the GOP for the win.
I agree, third party candidate is looking likely for me.
Mitt it seems that you are the only person left on the plant that doesn’t know that you’re a democrat. It’s OK to come out of the closet. Conservatives really aren’t going to miss you when you leave and the Liberals mostly won’t notice when you show up.
