Never went to a dance once I returned Stateside and started in public schools. Used to go to Youth center dances at the base all the time though. That was ummm...35 years ago. These days doubt i'd bother at all.

I talked to my daughter about this. She said that high school dances now had so many restrictions that many kids don't bother.

No "grinding or twerking", uniformed security, restrictions on music, repeated testing of the punch bowl for alcohol or drugs, turning the girls away for inappropriate attire. Plus students showing up drunk or stoned.

It's seen as something that parents did and no hipster would be caught dead being involved.

Back in high school I would have rather done a lot of things besides go to a school dance.
