Two Time-Warners In One!

July 12th, 2014 - 12:50 pm

Past performance is no guarantee of future results:

“Increasingly, the Obama White House has become so brittle, and so controlling of the message, that people are afraid to respond to me,” said Kimberly Dozier, a former Associated Press reporter. She was one of the journalists whose phone records were obtained by the Department of Justice last spring during its investigation into a leak of classified information about a failed Al-Qaeda plot. The scope of that investigation, some critics said, was unprecedented overreach.

According to ProPublica, the Obama administration has filed eight cases under the Espionage Act, which criminalizes disclosing information harmful to national security. Before the Obama administration, only three known cases had ever been charged under the act.

“Bloggers, Surveillance and Obama’s Orwellian State,” Time magazine, yesterday.

Until last month when it was spun-off as an independent entity (hopefully headed for a fate worse than Newsweek), Time magazine was part of the Time-Warner-CNN-HBO empire, which collectively portrayed Barack Obama on the cover of Time magazine as the second coming of FDR immediately after winning election in November of 2008, presented a cake on-air in February of 2010 to celebrate the the one year anniversary of the generational wealth theft that was administration’s “stimulus” program, invited children on-air as human shields to sing the joys of Obamacare, lied about the nature of the program, and allowed its anchors to share an on-air “fist bump” in Fearless Leader’s honor. Not to mention paved the way for the administration in mid-2008 by declaring their TV “news” network to be a “Wright-Free Zone”:

We’ll flash-forward to this week, and watch as the hits just keep on coming, right after the page break.

Given all of the past cheerleading for Obama at Time-Warner-CNN-HBO, it should come as little surprise that, as The Hill reported on Wednesday, “First lady to fundraise with HBO exec”:

First lady Michelle Obama will headline a fundraiser next week at the Los Angeles home of HBO’s president of programming, Michael Lombardo, according to a report Wednesday in the Hollywood Reporter.

Lombardo, a longtime Obama fundraiser, was named by the president to the board of trustees at the Kennedy Center. In 2012, Lombardo hosted a similar event for President Obama’s reelection campaign at his home.

The White House has increasingly leaned on Hollywood to raise cash ahead of the November midterm elections, with Democrats scrambling to retain control of the Senate.

On Wednesday, the president will attend a fundraiser at the home of director Robert Rodriguez, with actors including Jessica Alba, Demi Lovato, and Danny Trejo expected to make an appearance. Later this month, the president will also head to Los Angeles for an event hosted by “Scandal” creator Shonda Rhimes and actress Kerry Washington.

Tickets to the first lady’s event, billed as a roundtable discussion, will run $5,000 per person and benefit the Democratic National Committee.

In other words, Obama’s Orwellian (and corporatist) State: brought to you — and joyously approved by — Time-Warner-CNN-HBO.

When did totalitarianism become progressive?

And blaming tyranny on "large corporations" is not advancing the free market or success. It is class warfare disguised as phony conservatism.

Obama and his far leftist cabal love it when phony conservatives slam the free market or spew hatred and blame at successful business.

The propaganda arm of totalitarians are Soviet Style "incestuous insiders". Fighting tyranny is not possible while those pretending to be on the side of the resistance are doing the work of the totalitarians by spreading their message for them.

They are NOT progressive in any sane use of the word. To call them that exalting, genuflecting, groveling term...means that anyone opposing or resisting anti-progress.

And slamming successful free market people and simply class warfare a hallmark of Marxism.

Finally, to suggest that being a part of the Marxist Media Mafia makes you "mainstream" is so imbecilic as to defy operating brain function. The "mainstream" of rational thought, truth, facts, not a pack of lies, distortions, coverups and puff pieces on behalf of the overthrow of our freedom.

But trying to get the lazy and the clueless to have any awareness is a monumentally steep uphill climb.

Look at the definition of "progress" from You'll note "betterment" is only #3. #2 is more general and ambiguous, just movement towards a goal. Progressives deliberately use the ambiguity of their label to hide their true goal: complete control. That's an underhanded but sane usage of the word. It's the goal that's insane.

Here's an excerpt from Orwell's 'Politics and the English Language': 'The word Fascism has now no meaning except in so far as it signifies "something not desirable". The words democracy, socialism, freedom, patriotic, realistic, justice have each of them several different meanings which cannot be reconciled with one another. In the case of a word like democracy, not only is there no agreed definition, but the attempt to make one is resisted from all sides. ... Words of this kind are often used in a consciously dishonest way. That is, the person who uses them has his own private definition, but allows his hearer to think he means something quite different. ... Other words used in variable meanings, in most cases more or less dishonestly, are: class, totalitarian, science, progressive, reactionary, bourgeois, equality.'

cfbleachers, I'm not clear on what your message is; this appears to be saying that anyone who speaks ill of any large corporation is automatically a totalitarian propagandist, encouraging class warfare and attacking the free market. Even if the corporation employs the "Marxist Media Mafia", true conservatives must ignore the corporate management's role and pretend they are free marketeers. Is that right?

Time Ragazine lost all credibility with me when about a year ago it featured as its cover story for the rest of the world: "Obama weak and waffling" while choosing the ultimate controversy of "Is it time to pay college athletes?" for Americans. They recently did it again about a month or so ago when "The Unwinnable War" greeted international subscribers while "The Transgender Tipping Point" graced the cover of the US edition.

Svir Hedrigs said,
'But haven't you heard? Talk to any "progressive" -- you'll be told in no uncertain terms that the media are the minions of the Extreme Right.'

And you know why? The progressives notice quite correctly that the media are the minions of huge corporations, and they think that makes them the Extreme Right. They haven't caught on to the way that authoritarian government, even when it claims to be the Left, especially when it claims to be the Left, is a paid partner of the corporate heads.

Also, the progressives note correctly that the Left the media advocates ends up nothing like most rank-and-file progressives actually want. The rank-and-file progressives want the little guy protected from the giant corporations, and instead the media advocates Democrats. And so giant corporations are protected from the little guy by means of regulations with left-sounding names.

Is it a conspiracy? Nope. Heads of megacorps tend to be authoritarian thinkers who use their Leftism as a shield against personal guilt; like the way they call for more taxes instead of giving their own money. They hire like thinkers to run their media, who hire like thinkers, and so on down the line. It's human nature not conspiracy. Jeffery Immelt, CEO of GE, who admires the Chinese government, doesn't call David Gregory and tell him what political candidates to push. But GE and Comcast heads together hire people for NBC Universal who think like them.

I'm a Pennsylvanian bitter clinger and I have a ton more in common with progressive friends than with anybody at NBC or Fox or in Washington. I'd rather vote for them and their true ground-level left, nothing like Democrat politicians, than the lesser-evil Republican politicians I get stuck voting for; and they tell me they'd vote for me.

That just means that the progressives are, at heart, even MORE radical than they are in their public pronouncements. The media is just "sugar-coating" their message to make it more palatable to ordinary people. Some of the progressives would rather drop the pretense and just go full-out Marxist but the more cautious among them are prevailing; they will ensure that the true colors aren't shown until after the midterms to give the Democrats the best possible chance.
