How the Left Can Shut Down Rush Limbaugh

I grew up in radio. My father was a famous New York deejay, and really, an extraordinary radio talent. He was also an old-style Jewish liberal who thought the Republicans were one step away from being Nazis. Once, when I expressed admiration for Rush Limbaugh, he went into one of his usual rants. I stopped him and said, “You don’t have to agree with him, but Rush Limbaugh is the best radio man I’ve heard since you.” My father deflated… shook his head… then murmured, “Unfortunately, you’re probably right.”
How great is Rush Limbaugh? Truly, it’s almost impossible to do what he does at the level he does it day after day. Because of work demands, I don’t get to hear him as often as I’d like. But about once a week, I drive to L.A. on business, and I always try to time the drive to coincide with his show. I pay a lot of attention to the news. I read widely and deeply. But every time I make that drive, I arrive in Los Angeles smarter than I was when I left home and Rush is the reason. He’s just that good.
So yes, a Left that has failed in every single endeavor and has no arguments left but “You’re a racist!” and “The climate is falling!” needs to shut this man up and shut him down before he convinces Americans to seize back their country in the name of liberty and the Constitution. What to do?
Well, Leftists everywhere will be relieved to know the answer is simple. It was Andrew Breitbart who first pointed out to me that Rush thrives to a very large degree on the lies, distortions and ideological corruption of the mainstream media. That stuff is pure jet fuel to Rush. Without it, he would have almost nothing to be hilarious about. Yesterday, for instance, I heard the man take apart a dishonest story by the dishonest O-ssociated Press that dishonestly tried to support the president’s dishonest depiction of himself as a supporter of American oil production. By the time Rush was done, the AP label was exposed as what it is: a symbol of disreputable reportage skewed to support a statist point of view. Literally, I’ll never look at the AP slug the same way again.
So, you want to shut up Rush Limbaugh, Left-types? You want to, as one rock band schooled in the Left’s version of civil discourse so politely put it recently, “Kill-Kill-Kill Rush Limbaugh?” You want the EIB network to go silent forever? Easily enough done. Just stop lying! That’s it! Just tell your cronies at the network news outlets, the New York Times, the AP and all the rest to start hiring some people who represent different points of view so you can cover the news from a wide range of angles — or even objectively, just for a laugh.
If you start telling the truth, Rush won’t have to, and you’ll have him off the air at last.

Nothing less than a good old fashioned stroke will take care of Rush Limbaugh. Surprisingly, one hasn’t already. Just as the case of Breitbart demonstrated, you can only run on that sort of hate and anger for so long until your body says enough. The left doesn’t have to do anything. Nature will take its course. That liberal apparently is ignorant enough to believe that a nation can tax and spend its way to prosperity, which in practice works about as well as drinking one’s way to soberity.

No, you can’t tax and spend your way to prosperity. But, according to Bush and Reagan, you can spend and borrow your way to prosperity. As the wealthy preach to the masses using their republican mouthpieces about personal responsibility they run the government by cutting revenues and starting wars (which, I know it’s hard to belive, are the most expensive endeavors which government can undertake).
That would be historically incorrect, but I’ve come to expect that from Lefty propagandists.
Reagan did indeed increase the deficit by $1.5 trillion under his two terms. However, the one thing you left out is that under Reagan, aggregate net wealth increased about $17 trillion dollars. Not a private corporation on earth that wouldn’t take debt for that kind of return of capital.
Now, when Big O increases our net wealth accordingly, say about $62 trillion bucks, then I can assure you, that you won’t here a peep on this board of complaint about $5.5 trillion of debt Obama accumulated during his long 3 1/2 years.
When they cut the tax rates, tax revenues increased. That has happened repeatedly. Unfortunately, in the Reagan years spending increased even faster to the tune of about $1.40 for each additional dollar of revenue. BTW: Democrats controlled the House all of those years.
If you want to increase tax revenues, then the thing to do is take the actions that stimulate the economy. Raising tax rates and increasing regulation don’t stimulate the economy so do the opposite. In the meantime, spending has to be cut because it is growing at an unsustainable rate.
Funny you should mention. Republicans where I live never put bumper stickers on their cars because we know we will get keyed. The Obama stickers are safe. We know who we are dealing with.

Having been in radio myself for some 30 years Rush remains the role model/gold standard for many of us.
His radio knowledge is beyond the best, its superlative.
No one in the medium could do what he has done over the years and few ever will.
When a letter of reprimand is sent by the Head of the Senate, dingy harry to Rush’s Boss at Clear Channel, Rush auctions it off for thousands givento charity. When he does have an on air miscue and loses a few sponsors he gains audience, gets new sponsors who get phenomenal responses and the old ones beg to come back on. Where else does that happen. It doesn’t.
the mold was broken when Rush was made and he has the respect of millions of listeners and many of us who learn from what he does daily.

I usually don’t have time to listen to Rush’s show, but I always read the daily transcripts, which are very useful.
It’s amusing that the left underestimates Rush all the time. They brainwash themselves and many others into thinking he’s a stupid rube. Before I started reading his transcripts, I was fooled by this. But then I started reading, and I discovered something shocking that changed my feelings 180 degrees. He read the health care law. At the same time, the lefty publications were urging us to pass the law. The Nation, the LA Weekly, and similar places were gung-ho for it. They said it was corporate controlled and far from ideal, but that it must pass.
Rush, or his minions, actually read the law. He cited chapter and verse in his monologue that on page 19 of the law you could see that in reality, Obama was lying and you could not keep your existing health plan. I didn’t take his word for it. I went to page 19, and sure enough, in black and white, you can’t keep your existing health plan past a specific transition period.
Did The Nation tell me this? Did the LA Weekly tell me this? Did the New York Times break the story that our President was a liar? Nope. Rush Limbaugh did the work nobody else wanted to do. He plowed through 3,000+ pages of unreadable gobbledygook to get us the truth. I’m sure he didn’t have the time to do it personally, and I’m sure his staff was given combat pay (Rush is, by all accounts, a generous employer) to do it. Nonetheless, the end result was that someone actually read the law, and the results were distilled into the Rush Limbaugh Show.
If we had a competent press corps, this would have been the story of the decade. President Obama lied to us in every single speech he made about the health law. It should have been headline news in the New York Times.
I never underestimated Rush after that.
Rush exaggerates for comic effect. Anyone who listens to Rush and has a sense of humor knows that he doesn’t really think Sandra Flake is a slut, he is just playing with words to poke fun. I watched the Media Matters video press release, which had a bunch of women who looked like humorless drones and sounded like DMV managers, and realized there was no competition. Would I rather listen to Rush or people whose sense of humor was surgically removed at birth? Rush, of course.
You are right, if the people on the left didn’t lie, Rush would have nothing to talk about. But don’t worry, they think that if they don’t lie, they can’t win elections – and they are probably right. So they will have Rush attacking them for a long time to come, and our country is better for it.

Let’s do the math: 3 hours a day; 18 minutes per hour for ads; 5 days a week; 600 stations… that’s over 160,000 minutes of ads a week… no other personality has the ad draw that has Rush… good luck to the quacks lead by the same-sex divorcee, David Brock…
Its a little bit different from that.Each affiliate has their own mix of local and nationally run spots.
Rush gets so many minutes per hour for his advertisers which are run nationally,(not on 24/7) and the top and bottom of each hour is usually a mess/wreck.
Some bigger stations even resorting to cutting off Rush theme music. etc. to get that last spot in.It all works out and for anyone to be approaching 25 years on the air with the same show is unheard of.

I clearly remember in the early 1980s when all of the people on the Far Left were screaming, literally screaming, when Jerry Falwell and his followers threatened to boycott radio stations and television stations because of the content of their shows. Falwell was called so many names, especially that tired old one “Nazi” that’s being beaten to death these days. Anyway, the Far Left was demanding their right to “Freedom of Speech” and that what Falwell wanted amounted to nothing more than censorship. Falwell had to be stopped at all costs from imposing his view of the world onto everyone else. I even remember that an old television show, WKRP in Cincinnati, devoting an entire show on a Falwell look-a-like type trying to censor the songs played on that station. And the station steadfastly refused to bend to this political pressure.
And here we are today, with the Far Left now doing and demanding the same things Falwell demanded in the 1980s. Strange, isn’t it? The Far Left have learned their business well from that fat old “Nazi” they once ridiculed. Just shows you that the Far Left has no shame, because you can never really shame the shameless. Perhaps the Far Left should listen to their own protest tapes from the early 1980s. Maybe they could learn something from them.

I’ve had the same thought. So many women are so busy with kids and jobs, I understand not fitting in staying informed. What I don’t understand is having the hypocrisy to have a strong opinion.
One of the few intelligent things I ever heard Chris Matthews say is that Democrats are the “mommy” party and Republicans are the “daddy” party. I’ve often wondered if we’d be better off if women’s suffrage had failed (not really, but you know what I mean).

I have 3 female relatives who are lifelong Dems. They have all said things to the effect that, “I’m a Democrat, but I don’t keep up with the issues.” I stand there with my mouth agape. A few years ago Bo Derek, the California “10″ surf girl, said, growing up in Hollywood, she always assumed the Dems were the “nice” party. She said when she got older and started learning the issues, she found out that she’d always had conservative values and was a Republican.

I have a 71 year old sister that is just now beginning to realize what the Democrats are – that they do not represent her values and do not have her best interests in mind. She has several women friends who have come to similar conclusions. These are life-long Democrat voters having never voted (or seldom) for a Republican. I can have a logical conversation about politics these days with any of them something that wasn’t possible just a few years ago. I suspect there are many more women in a similar frame of mind.
There is yet hope – for change. I really believe the Democrats are losing a large part of their life-long base – women.

It’s so disappointing when you try to start a real discussion about current events in a random group of women and you get a harsh realization that nobody knows WHAT you are referring to. (I want to weep when I ask if anyone has kept up with all of the Planned Parenthood scandal and they say that’s none of their business…!)
But mention a celebrity, and they’ve completely analyzed the issue and feel “very informed” about it.

That horse has left the barn and there is no going back. It is worth nothing more today than an idle intellectual exercise as to how history may have been different if the suffragette movement had failed. Having admitted to that, the only solution going forward is to find the most effective method of persuasion. The difficulty of course can be summed up in someone’s famous statement “You can’t reason someone out of a position they didn’t reason themselves into”. Therefore we must also use emotion as effectively as the liberals do in order to persuade this most important voting bloc.

One interesting thing is that for 25 years, as many “outlets” as the left has to spout their lies, it takes one man, three hours a day, five days a week to expose and debunk them. This is true balance though. This is why the left needs so many spigots of false information. Here’s a second part to the above mentioned experiment. After the leftie has told you that Rush is a liar, ask if he/she listens to Rush. “Of course not” will be the usual reply. Then just stare at them for a few seconds while quietly saying “you know he’s a liar but you never listen to him?”. Then observe to see if their tiny liberal brain gets the point. Sometimes the really smart ones know that they have made themselves look silly (and then they get angry with you). But most don’t. It is just is too steep a mental hill for them to climb.
By the way, I have several liberal family members and NEA schoolteacher types as friends. They’re great for petri dish experiments like this.

This is a chess problem. There are several ways to neutralize your opponent’s queen – his most powerful piece. One way to do it is to take her off of the board. One can do this by luring her into inadvertence or a trap.
But what if your opponent’s queen too clever for that? Then your only remaining tactic is to distract her with a feigned mistake or attack to cover your true attack so as to draw her out of position to defend or counterattack. This tactic has nothing to do with truth telling. They require pure deception, the subtler the better.
The question thus becomes whether the left is clever enough to employ subtle deception against Rush. I think not based on the left’s latest gambits, i.e. the Obamacare / HHS contraception mandate and Obama’s oil pipeline dog and pony show. Both gambits employed neither subtlety nor inherent deception. Instead, both immediately exposed their true intentions and relied on deceptions to obscure them. Regardless, Rush effortlessly thwarted both the gambits and the deceptions offered to obscure them.
Simply put, the left can’t fool Rush with lies or feints because he knows what they intend to do before they do it. What’s more, he knows that exposing the left’s intentions is enough to thwart them. Therefore, the left quitting their lying won’t take him off of the board. Rather, the left must change their intentions, which they’ll never do.

As a conservative I took offense to Rush’s diatribe as I did when I heard HBO use the “C” word to describe former Governor Palin. Days and days later the bio for Ms. Fluke was printed on the Internet, of course, the media never reported her purpose at Georgetown University. Someone should have reported the facts instead of name calling and that would have ended it. Now the truth is coming out on the man that, if Obama had a son he would be just like him, or some such nonsense. Come to find out his accomplishments were crime so I guess you could say the president was right even before the facts were reported. Unless you want to call that name calling too?
If that woman had yelled “pretend it’s Obama!” at ANY firing range I know of she would have been asked to leave and never allowed back. I suspect your info and your link are bogus. I’m in Utah. Obama is about as popular as weaponized herpes out here. But no one who said a thing like that would be allowed to stay at a range, and would be removed by force of law if necessary.
